2018 Recruiting Board/Thread

Daniel,

Would you agree with the following statements?

1. Texas needs at least one of Rogers/Thompson in this class at QB. The drop off after that is steep.

2. This pair of recruitments will be the most important of this class, for Herman and Texas.

1. With the crop of quarterbacks instate I would agree that landing Rogers or Thompson needs to happen with Thompson being more likely of the two. I think they need to consider taking two QBs considering the depth issues too. Chance Amie from Tyler Lee is a name that could come up down the road.

2. The most important recruitments IMO will revolve around the studs out of Houston. Guys like the Lamar Trio, Leon O'Neal, and Jalen Green. Also think BJ Foster is very important as far as landing a big fish and gaining momentum.

Daniel have you heard anything lately how things are going with Barton Clement or if he is going to visit again in the spring? Talk in the last month or so on aggy boards is they may only take 1 more OL and it will be an OT or possibly a Juco OT.

Barton doesn't talk much, so we don't have anything new to report at this time.

Spoke to my buddy today. He had some interesting things to say.

1. Thompson – says he's ours if we really want him. But doesn't expect a commit from him any time soon.

2. Foster – He said we have two silent commits. Thinks Foster is one of them. Said silent commits are silly and he doesn't consider it to be a real commitment (I agree). He said it does show how well we are liked by at least som 4 and 5 star players. He thinks Foster takes some visits, but won't got through them all before committing to Texas.

3. He said we blew away the kid from FW. Said he's raw but passes all eye tests and is what they're looking for, size-wise, in that position.

4. He agrees with what Seahorn said above, in that Thompson is the likely take of the two (Rogers). He said not offering Rogers hurt the kid's pride. He's not totally lost, but not real likely either.

5. He said we'd see some attrition again this year after spring ball is over. He said 4-5 would be a safe bet.

6. He thinks Lil' Jordan Humphries will be this year's surprise or break out player. He drools over the kids skills. "He was born to do what he's doing right now. Can't wait to see him unleashed," he said.

7. He thinks our OL will be better than we think, and we think it will be good. He said it could be one of our best in years.

That's it. Not a lot, but some interesting things in there.

Who is the guy from FW in #3?

Really wish silent commits would go the way of Old Yeller.

I share his excitement about LJ Humphrey. Think that kid is going to be a baller.

The offensive line needs to find some answers at RT. Hopefully something materializes there this spring.

I would love to see warren getting to the 2nd level before 1st contact every time we run the ball. He would be off to the races every time. Cue the tech film! Hook 'em!
