2017 Recruiting Thread Part 1

What is the likelihood of this class for 2017 happening? Obviously Marvin Wilson is a big question mark, but Herman has some time. I'm concerned mostly about the LB corps, but they have some depth there now. I would feel pretty good about this class with all the turmoil.

QB - Sam Ehlinger

RB - Eno Benjamin

RB#2 (hoping for JK Dobbins)

WR - Damion Miller

WR - Omar Manning

TE -

OL - Walker Little 5*

OL - Chuck Filiaga

DE - K'Lavon Chaisson

DE - Taquon Graham

DE/DT - Lagaryonn Carson (if he qualifies. I see him as a DT)

DT - Marvin Wilson 5*

LB - (have no idea who to guess)

CB- Chevin Calloway

CB- Kobe Boyce

CB- Josh Thompson

S- Montrell Estell

K - Josh Rowland

Possible or a pipe dream?

If we get Little Wilson and Chaisson, as you show, then the class is a huge success.

Carson, who knows? But I agree, think he ends up at DT if he makes it.

I don't think we get Dobbins. Eno, yes. Eno is lethal catching the ball out of he backfield. Great hands. He's built for the Herman offense.

Estell is a project. Yes, he's talented. But he's got a long, long way to go.

I swear I am not giving up on Jalen Reagor. Please, please, please lol

Can Canella and Hagar exist on the same team? Will there be in-fighting over hair conditioners? lol

One of the "surprise visitors" is LB Kyrei Fisher (Tulsa) who Herman offered at UH.  Minnesota commit

Here is what one of the ou moderators says about Kyrei Fisher

SoonerScoop -- loves him. Said he's a late bloomer because he was initially seen as a tweener but that he has really grown into his body this year. Added that OU would be recruiting him if they weren't so far down the road already with other LB's. Said it's a great eval by Herman and that he could definitely play at UT. Hits like a truck.

This is more than likely going to be the class size. I've pretty much given up on Dobbins coming here and I honestly have no idea who a 2nd RB would be. I hope our TE take is either the JUCO guy or the Oklahoma guy. I'd be fine at ILB with either Bimage or Fisher. Hopefully we can get big Marvin on campus in January and get an in-home and Orlando and Herman can show him what they did with Oliver. Other than that I'd take the rest that you've listed.

TFBs on Bimage --

Marqez Bimage: Brenham (TX) Houston DE/LB commit Marqez Bimage announced his offer from Texas this afternoon. He played DE all year in HS, but told me the Texas staff likes him at LB, so he could end up being their ILB in the 2017 class. I’ll have more on him tomorrow, but Texas is in a very good spot right now.

can't change the facts...you can blame who you want, but i didn't see strong throw a pass or carry the ball, did you?
At UT Strong could recruit. Strong could not coach up or motivate players. He could not manage staff or details. I never got the impression that he wanted to be at Texas. It just didn't work out for him here. Perhaps UCF will be a success for him.

Agree that the players play, but I also saw multiple coaching lapses last season that you wouldn't expect a seasoned coach to make. I blame them all, and someone was the captain of the ship.

Anyone remember DeAndre McNeal? The "throw in" when Malik signed to Texas? I've lightly followed him at his time at JUCO since being dismissed from the team earlier in the year but was curious if there was any way he could make it back to campus. He has good size and was seen as a hybrid TE/WR, a position coach Herman seems to be recruiting heavily.
