2017 Recruiting Thread Part 1

Just got off the phone with a friend who is tapped in on this class in the making. He says ND game was HUGE on these kids, not just the visitors at the game. Phone is ringing off the wall.

We have another possible commit, a prime recruit who is seriously considering pulling the trigger. If he comes, others will follow.

There's a third (third as in counting Graham as the first) who had his eyes widely opened. This one thought he would take his to signing day. He may not do that now. Have no idea on the "when" but the fish are swirling in his head. If this one were to come – we'd all just throw our hands up in complete disgust of the talent coming in. And I mean that in the best of ways.
Going to send you a PM, SHA.

Holy Moses, that sounds amazing. Thanks for that bit of info!

Also, forget to mention. Was told Moses has called. Don't know what was said. Just know he has called staff. Maybe he just wanted to say congrats. Maybe it was that and more?

I mean K'Lavon did like it so...

I tell you what, it's pretty exciting to think about what Charlie is building on defense. Last year he brought in the monster DT haul, this year it looks like we could have a killer LB/DE group and the 2018 DB class is loaded. Keep sprinkling top talent at those spots each class at the position that's not being loaded up on ( looking at you big Marvin for a DT this year ) and the dominant D' is coming folks. Gives me chills.

We have to keep winning and while we are at it we need to run up the scoreboard, vince young style.

From Burton on 24/7 this morning...

Recruiting is poised to take yet another major step forward.

I'm told that multiple high level recruits, players who are currently committed to other programs, have reached out to various Texas coaches in the past 48 hours. Some of these players are committed to both in-state and out-of-state programs.

When I say "multiple", I'm not talking about 2 or 3.

I'm talking in the 10+ range. Some of it has been via text and Twitter and some of it via phone calls directly to the coaches.

And it's not just the players, nor are we talking merely about in-state prospects. Parents have also reached out as well, and so have players from multiple states across the country. In fact, there have been a couple who have reached out that Texas has had no prior contact with at all.

Obviously, Texas can not pursue all of these players and some of them may not be what Texas is looking for at a certain position.

Nonetheless, expect Charlie Strong to keep the same attitude all the way through. Strong likes to get to know the players and parents, watch them through their senior seasons and then recruit them like mad when the time comes.

My guess is we'll likely start to hear more about specific players as soon as this week or next. But I think it's important to reiterate this: it's not just a couple of recruits who took notice of Sunday night's performance, and it's not just in-state recruits either.

If Texas can continue to build on this performance, it's the sort of game that could make Texas an even more national brand and destination for players across the country.

FYI, I don't have a membership over there and I posted my stuff earlier than he did, so I didn't just rehash his post. But Burton's post does give me confidence in the source I spoke with.

What would the ultimate linebacker class look like for this year? How many slots does UT have for ILB or OLB? Could this be one of those "your wildest dreams" type of classes at LB?
