OK, so I have this all worked out now --

2-deep DEs = Roach, Fitz, Taylor, Southall

2-deep DTs = Wilbon, DCG, Elliott, Daniels

= 8 DLs total signed to LOIs

Fowler is a LB for these purposes

Redshirt as many as you need to for balance and all the other reasons you RS  players

ps - JMad will sort of mess this up for me, but thats OK, I will make it work

So I been sort of laughing at the idea of 5DTs for several weeks

I been saying that, once we get to NSD, at least one of our guys is going to bail on depth chart reasons alone -- which I think is what Higs references above in the NRA tweet^

But look at this

Gerald Wilbon (safely home)

+ DCG

+ Jordan Elliott
+ Stephon Taylor
+ Chris Daniels
+ Marcell Southall

= 6 DTs

I get it that we will cleverly declare one or two are DEs.  But this is a legit possibility.  All these guys are trending our way.  This looks like a DT haul for the ages.

Who was it that said Brick Haley is a bad recruiter?

Ok, is it just me or is the NSD countdown clock at the top of the page, way off??  By my calculations, it will be over by then... ;)

I'm curious on whether or not it is Giles that may fall below the line for Higs, natural recruiting attrition.  He contacted the TCU staff last night.  It was one of two things...

Christmas-Giles should be at the top of our DT recruiting board (I believe he is).  He has an elite first step that is unmatched by anyone else in this class.

Hey guys, I have noticed on the NSD announcement chart, no one ever puts Fowler's time. So fyi, I saw yesterday on 247 that he will announce at 8:30.

We're in good shape with all the DTs, but I do believe that a couple of them may start looking at the number of signees at the position and cause them to 2nd guess.  I'm sure the staff has addressed this with them, but I could see 1 or 2 start to have doubts if it starts getting crowded.  Taylor is my guess, but could be anybody or nobody at this point.

Also here are the Brainiacs:

Predictions: If we get any new information today we will update these predictions but Andrew and I spoke last night and I think we are now in agreement on the Texas targets. So below are our predictions.

Marcel Southall – Texas, we’ve been told that the Sooners are out on this one and just don’t feel like he will go all the way out to Miami. Also we are told that Strong and co. will take as many DTs as they can get so I have no reason to believe they wouldn’t take Southall.

Kyle Porter – Not Texas, not a lot to say here…just trusting a source that he won’t end up at Texas.

Erick Fowler – Texas, there is push in both directions and obviously Fowler could change his mind at the last minute but we are hearing Texas is on top right now and have been since the visit from coach Strong.

Jeffrey McCulloch – Texas, been Texas for a while.

Chris Brown – Texas, trusting a source here…close to home…numerous visits.

Patrick Hudson – Not Texas (Baylor), I (K) have struggled with this one and as recent as yesterday morning I felt like Texas may have a slight lead (in fact one of my Texas sources told me they feel good about Hudson). But after gathering a little more information, I’ve come around to where Andrew has been…that ultimately Baylor and the familiarity of the program win out.

Chris Daniels – Texas, the family ties and the amazing job Strong and co. did recruiting Daniels late makes us feel like Texas is in a good spot here.

Deontay Anderson – Not Texas, If the decision had been made right after the Texas OV we think Anderson would’ve ended up at Texas but our sources here indicate that Anderson will end up elsewhere.

Stephon Taylor – Texas, Andrew is a little more uncertain here but I like my source on this one and I’m sticking solidly with Texas.

D’Andre Christmas Giles – Texas, We were one of the first sites to mention Texas led for DCG and we are sticking with that.

Jordan Elliot – Texas, Not a secret anymore.

Brandon Jones – Texas, A little more hesitant here but trusting our Texas side sources and they feel pretty good about him.

Dontavious Jackson – Texas, Haven’t gotten any concrete sourced material on this one but both Andrew and I are going with Texas on this one due to proximity and again, familiarity.

Added Fowler's time

Bringing this forward -- these are all Central times

Southall will announce at 7:30 at his high school on NSD.

Daniels will announce at 7:45 at his high school on NSD.

Jones will announce around 8 on ESPNU on NSD.

Williams will announce at 8 at his high school on NSD.

Fowler will announce at 8 at his high school on NSD.

Anderson will announce during the 9am hour on ESPNU on NSD.

Jackson will announce during the 9 hour on ESPNU on NSD. He's scheduled to announce after Anderson.

Brown is scheduled to announce at the same time as Jackson on ESPNU on NSD. So sometime during the 9am hour.

McCulloch will announce between 10-10:20 on ESPNU on NSD.

Hudson will announce at 10:30 at his high school on NSD.

Taylor will announce at noon at his high school on NSD.

Elliott will announce at noon at his high school on NSD.

Christmas-Giles will announce at noon at his high school on NSD  (might be on CBS Sports - but unsure)

Porter does not have an official time listed yet.

This seems like overkill to me.

Its my understanding Southall by most standards is rated lowest of the 5 and he is announcing 7:30.

What are the chances we land Southall then 15 minutes later land Daniels and Taylor.

That would be great but what are the odds Elliott and Giles possibly reconsider since we now have 4 DT's?  Giles has been consistent about playing time.  Giles would probably earn it regardless since he is a beast but I wonder if could hurt us for the 2 better DT's announcing later.

Thoughts?
