Another Grad-transfer, this time a kid Strong recruited to and started for Louisville.

Quarterback Will Gardner, who started seven games for the Louisville Cardinals prior to this season, is "looking for a new home" and will transfer, his father told the Louisville Courier-Journal Tuesday.

Gardner, a redshirt junior, tore the ACL in his left knee after making seven starts during the 2014 season and hasn't played for the Cardinals since. The 6-foot-5 quarterback completed better than 57 percent of his passes for 1,669 yards and 12 touchdowns with three interceptions that season.

"He's just looking for a new home for next year, a new place to play," his father, Glenn Gardner, told the Courier-Journal. "He's just going to transfer, going to move on in life."

Hes a Pro-Style QB.  How does that work in a Cumbie/Traylor system?
Should work fairly well in an Air Raid offense.  I'd hope that whatever offense we install that those two guys could tailor it to whoever is under Center.  If we're going to pay a million plus for a Coordinator - I want him to know what to do with a pure passer. (Gardner isn't a complete stiff - at least he wasn't before the knee injury).

Shane B isn't a great athlete - just good enough he can keep defenses honest.

You're right though that Gardner was recruited to play in a Watson/Bridgewater west coast pro-style offense.  But he's a fitth year Senior with starting experience - it might be something Strong/Cumbie look into.

Sounds like he and everyone else involved doesn't want to bring any more attention to this situation. I'm guessing he clearly cheated.

Yep, that's what it smells like to me. To review, 4 of the vaunted "Florida 5" will never play a down at UT; Clarington, Cherry, G. Johnson, & Irvin.

I'll give Strong a pass on the Irvin flip to Auburn, but who is responsible for fully vetting recruits? For those of you who care about Rivals and recruiting rankings, where does that put our supposed Top 10 class from last year? Just curious

I think I read somewhere that we ended up at 15 or 18. Pretty sure it was in the top 20. But, I don't know if that included/excluded Devo.

Johnson and Clarington are the only two who didn't 'make it in'.  Irvin flipped before signing day and wasn't a part of that class rank.  Any other losses can be chalked up to the attrition experienced at every other program.

Losing Clarington & Johnson (who was a low rated prospect because of the unlikelyhood of him qualifying) dropped us down to 12th.  Losing Lampkin dropped us down to I believe 15th.

As for 'fully vetting' - everyone knew Johnson and Clarington were grade risks - its why despite being supreme talents they weren't as highly recruited.  Lampkin i believe straight up blew off the spanish requirement after he found out Rumph was gone.

Thanks for clarifying, Hip Hop

Maybe this stellar 2015 class will out-perform the overrated 2012 class (#2???) with luck and better coaching. Fingers crossed & Horns up!
