Once they play football they count towards the 85 scholarship limit - regardless of whether or not they have a scholarship in another sport. Keeps teams from hiding players on track/baseball/bowling scholarships. What about the possibility of playing baseball as well? Is there the possibility of being on a baseball scholarship and not counting against our football scholarships?
He had alot of offers http://247sports.com/Player/Marques-Ford-43451Better get coach rumph, strong, and Bedford to give that kid a call.
One name :I think what GBT is trying to say is, if Murray were to come to Texas, he'd have more negotiating power with an MLB team than if he were to go to A&M. It'd would take more money from an MLB team to pull him away from Texas. I think this is correct, but please if I'm not, someone correct me ... if Murray signs with Texas football on NSD, he'd be free to be drafted by an MLB club and play in the minors, but could not play for Longhorn baseball. If he chose to play Longhorn baseball, he would not be eligible for the MLB Draft for three years. I'm very confident that if a kid signs to play baseball with a D1, they are not draft eligible for three years. Not sure how all this would play into Murray's plans since he'd be a football schollie and not baseball. If he's a first-round MLB Draft pick, that would be hard to turn down that kind of coin just to play baseball at Texas. But going the football/pro baseball route is possible and that may be what they were meeting with Strong about today. Let's hope the Murrays see that the place that offers Kyler the most opportunity is ATX.
I have so done. I recommend signing on to twitter and following Cecil and reading his tweets and re-tweets just today.I don't know shit about Twitter but I hope people favor this.
agree ... soon as the euphoria over Murray settled by today...Hate to have lost Gentry....I thought the best of the QB's that Texas is recruiting.
Of course, it could be that the staff has told Gentry that Murray has said he wants to go to Texas and Gentry said, "see ya!".agree ... soon as the euphoria over Murray settled by today...
I'm now wondering if Gentry being pulled toward Michigan was communicated to the staff here, prompting a hurry-up unofficial visit that happened Wed.
Dominoes, musical recruiting chairs. Trades. The kind of stuff GMs work up.
Maybe the story will be that Gentry, with good character, let the staff know what was unfolding...
Staff moved to get a solid read on Murray to let him know if he wanted it, come get it, we need you. Wiin-win.
Then try and get a 4th (Kai Locksley?).
Using your analogy, I think it's because we are rapidly approaching the trade deadline. Only two weekends left for OVs.Dominoes, musical recruiting chairs. Trades. The kind of stuff GMs work up.
Getting Murray and Lodge here on campus wasn't a 'hurry-up' move. I expect that's something they have been trying to schedule for a very long time - and considering how hush-hush it was something they've had arranged for a bit.agree ... soon as the euphoria over Murray settled by today...
