2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

I'm thinking that's unlikely but Tee Martin would be a home run hire. Martin will be an offensive coordinator before long. There probably isn't a better recruiter in the country.

Someone has pointed out that Martin's agent is the son of Jimmy Sexton.

We've already had some experience with "the Sexton Effect."

For me, just knowing that casts this rumor in a different light.

Who ever is the host for Mack when he does his OV needs to go bookmark all those post on texags and show him what aggy really think of him. We need that young man!
Malik will host Mack

Who starts on the DL next year?
My guess for the 4-man at start of the season (assuming no Brown or Mack)

Davis or Vasser

Ridgeway

Ford

Hughes

Others - Boyette, Nelson, Bluiett, Cottrell, Brown, Lampkin, Omenihu

I have high hopes for Nelson, they say he has grown

Charles O will probably redshirt.  Not sure about Lampkin or Brown (who could also play the Hughes position)

ps- if we end up with either or both Brown/Mack, the whole picture changes

Sounds like Kyler Murray might be visiting OU again on Monday. Some serious smoke building around Murray flipping to OU.

He won't be able to meet with any of the coaches though, right? Dead period goes all the way through the second week in January. Strange time to visit unless it's meant be kept completely quiet.

If you didn't see it posted or even in his body language, there are certain aspects of this team that Charlie is not pleased with. House cleaning isn't quite over. It's possible another staff change could happen, too.

As in almost every single Brown player

Is that too 'strong' to say out loud?

Tim Irvin's twitter profile now reads

@T_irvin2https://twitter.com/T_irvin2

I Will Be Attending The University Of ______?

Not __________ University

Among the gurus on Irvin, Nahlin very confident while Burton & Higdon not as much

possible JUCO QB target

doesnt have the best stats, but seems to have a nice arm and good size (6'6, 238)

signed with Florida out of high school (Watson/Louisville also offered -- but, as of right now Watson isn't even following Staver on twitter.  So, there may be nothing to this)

Is Jamile Johnson the sleeper of this defensive class?
He is said to have been working with the same DB trainer (Clay Mack) that Jason Hall & Jamal Adams worked with.

From 247 -- Here is a look at the top performers from Friday's West practice:

Alpha Dog: Jamile Johnson

Day three saw the Longhorns' commitment come into his own, as he looked truly comfortable playing centerfield as the coverage safety, displaying great closing speed and breaking up multiple passes.

During position drills, Johnson was leading the pack, while helping out the second group of defensive backs when they were unsure of their assignment. And in the final team scrimmage, Johnson showed strong hands, swatting the ball away from tight end Jordan Davis, a much more physically imposing target.

While he will likely help out in zone coverage at cornerback early on in his college career, once he fills out Johnson has a chance to be a true asset at free safety. His range made him stand out the most in Day 3 of practice for the West team.

Linebacker: Cameron Townsend

With only two inside linebackers and three outside linebackers, this group has been on the field a ton during practice this week. And while Richard Moore had a few pass breakups and Kyahva Tezino did well in pursuit, Townsend stood out the most on Friday. The Texas commitment did a nice job running in coverage against a trio of explosive backs and a pair of massive tight ends.

He also showed some sideline-to-sideline speed, and looks like a viable option as a blitzer because of his strength and explosive potential. That makes Townsend a triple-threat at linebacker, with the ability to cover, rush the passer and track down ball carriers. Size might be an issue, but on Day three the future Longhorn showed that effort can sometimes overcome physical mismatches.

Defensive Back: Holton Hill

Another day, another impressive performance from Hill. Throughout the week, Hill has allowed very few receptions in coverage, both during 1-on-1's and in the team portion of practice. His length assisted him again on Friday, allowing the Top247 cornerback to break up a couple passes intended for Kemah Siverand. It was clear by the end of the day that "Hollywood" was the most confident player on the field.

Not surprised at all to hear that about Hill. I've said for a while he's easily the best cover corner in Texas. I'll take Hill over Boyd/Sheffield all day.

Here is a Scout piece about another JUCO QB we are looking at -- Jake Hubenak

http://texas.scout.com/story/1471823-juco-qb-jake-hubenak-putting-up-absurb-stats

And here is his stat page http://www.buccaneersports.com/sports/fball/2014-15/players/jakehubenaktppa?view=gamelog

(Note - Burton does not think we are looking at him anymore)

Blinn Junior College quarterback Jake Hubenak’s stat line for this season reads like it would had you created a quarterback on a video game and gave him the best set of passing tools possible.

Through seven games the Oklahoma State transfer has completed 195-of-297 passes (65.7 percent) for 3,534 yards, 42 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

His average of 504.9 passing yards per game leads the National Junior College Athletic Association by 153.3 ypg. Those 42 touchdowns are eight more than second place.

Surely he has his pick of the litter as to where he wants to transfer next spring, right?

Well not exactly.

In fact, Hubenak, 6-foot-3, 195-pound redshirt freshman, doesn’t have a single offer.

He actually has never had a Division I FBS offer – ever – dating back to his high school days at Georgetown (Texas) where he was named the Class 4A Player of the Year his senior season after throwing for 4,108 yards and 48 touchdowns.

He was 19-1 as a starter in high school with his only defeat coming in the state title game where he threw for 318 yards and three touchdowns.

But no Division I offers? Ever? What gives?

As a junior at Georgetown he tore his ACL, which cost him most of the season and really hurt his chances of getting any legitimate FBS offers.

His explanation as for the here and now takes a bit longer to explain but is simple at its core: It doesn’t look like he has his academics in check, but he does.

Since Hubenak transferred from OSU, where he was a walk-on, to Blinn he knew if he wanted to transfer back to a Division I school he had to graduate with an Associates degree from Blinn, which, as he stated, requires 63 hours.

He took 31 hours at OSU but only 24 of those transferred to Blinn. So he took six hours during the summer (30) and has already finished nine more (39) between classes at Blinn and online at Austin Community College.

He’s taking the necessary steps to finish the final 24 hours required in order to graduate in December and transfer to a Division I FBS school next spring.

“A lot of coaches have called and know that I have to graduate, and they see that I only have like 24 hours,†Hubenak said. “So they are like ‘Well how is this kid going to graduate by December.’ My coach has been telling them that I’ve got this all laid out. I have my whole degree plan laid out. I’ve already passed my classes. I had a 3.4 GPA at Oklahoma State. I think a lot of people [that] have called have been worried about that. That’s the main reason why I haven’t gotten offered.â€

Some of the top programs in the country are like sharks in the water waiting to attack once he does graduate. Baylor, Ole Miss, Alabama, Kansas, Texas Tech and, yes, Texas have called and are interested in Hubenak.

For a player that grew up just up Interstate-35 from UT’s campus, the idea of playing for the Longhorns has been a dream of his for a long time.
“Texas is always somewhere I wanted to go,†he said. “I lived 30 minutes from there and have been to numerous games.â€

The Longhorns currently have one quarterback committed in 2015 in four-star Zach Gentry. But they’ve let it be known that they wouldn’t mind two quarterbacks.

The way Texas QB coach Shawn Watson sees it, the more competition the better.
