2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

Thanks for all the updates guys - trying to juggle multiple things while watching the game and reading this thread.

Thrilled about getting Wheeler!

Keep loading the wagon Charlie.

Hook 'Em!!

Here is some stuff from IT on Wheeler --

http://insidetexas.com/wheeler-says-hookem/

“This kid is an animal. A downhill thumper who can navigate sideline to sideline and arrives at the ball carrier with bad intentions. He moves very well for his size and he does a good job navigating through the traffic between the tackles and tracking down the ball. Never see him run around blocks, he is going through you. This kid is going to be a damn good college player and he even has the potential to spin down to DE if LB doesn’t end up suiting him. Whoever gets him should be very happy and you get a kid who will find his way onto the field pretty early in his college career.â€

How he fits at Texas, by Ian Boyd:
“Wheeler’s fast twitch speed and 6-foot-2, 225-pound frame project best inside at mike or will linebacker where he has enough power and short area speed to fill gaps. However, getting the ball outside of him with outside runs is a fools’ errand as he has lateral range for days as well as the length and overall speed to project as a good player in coverage someday. He’s already experienced reading the backs, as he will at Texas, and will be one more useful weapon on the blitz. Wheeler is a phenomenal linebacker prospect with the football IQ, frame, and athleticism to become an ideal Big 12 linebacker with no major shortcomings in his game.â€

I am reposting this since it got immediately got buried by the Wheeler announcement.

It's an interesting development.  Fields is a good player, and good kid.

It makes me curious if there is something going on with one of our other CB targets.  I haven't seen anything on that yet.

The latest from 247 is that 4-star CB Mark Fields visit is back on for Jan 30

LSU Jan 16, Clemson Jan 23 and then Texas Jan 30.

He had just said last week he wasn't going to make it

#7 CB overall and the No. 4 prospect in North Carolina in the 2015 class per 247
Clemson currently leads the Crystal Ball with 69% (but I think his fav may be LSU)

Texas assistant coach Chris Rumph handles this recruitment for the Longhorns.  â€œI really like coach Rumph,†Fields said. “Coach Charlie Strong is like the O.G. of DBs. Plus they play in the Big XII and that’s a passing league.â€

His father played linebacker for the New Orleans Saints from 1995-2000.

Many thanks to everyone posting videos. I did not get to see it. Mucho gracias.

makes me wonder as well Juan what possessed Mr. Fields now to wanting to take an OV?

Tomorrow, we get Irvin and Clarrington. With Johnson, Davis and Cherry already in the fold - there's your Florida Five.

Johnson has been in a media blackout. Won't talk to anyone about recruiting. I like it.
