2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

Here is a current interview with 4-star CB Mark Fields

Just de-committed from USC

He talks about Texas beginning ~ 1:20 mark

He wants to make an announcement prior to NSD but needs to finish up OVs

Has existing relationship with Clemson and has set up his OV there, so advantage them,

But we have a chance as one of our coaches also has an existing relationsip with him and we have already done an in-home with him.  Plus we have the momentum now.

Would be a long shot for the Horns. Seems he's looking for something closer to home.

Projected starting LBs for 2015 anyone?
Our depth chart was pretty sad at LB until recently.

3-3-5 How about Freeman-Cherry-Jefferson by mid-season?

3-4-4 Freeman-Hughes-Cherry-Jefferson?

others- Jinkens, Cole, Santos.  (Maybe Santos will lose a little weight, improve his quickness and create a spot for himself too?)

there's slowing down and then there's hitting a brick effing wall.
I am stunned. I did not see this happening this soon. I thought Texas would struggle for another year and I was going to be bitching, whining and complaining until this time next year. That said, I don't think anyone saw the events of today turning out like they did.

What impresses me is that recruits with literally every option in college football available to them bought into Coach Strong's vision and in no uncertain terms rejected the the "swag" and "country club" hype. This guys know they are going to be expected to be in study hall at 6:30am. They know what's in store for them (or at least they think they know) and they chose Texas over any other direction they could have turned. Just "Wow!" I really hope it works out for these guys, because they certainly showed they aren't worried about having to work to get where they want to get in life.

When the last APR report came out, Randa Ryan showed she her part of the organization under control. Coach Strong has clearly showed he intends to deliver. Now, if the rest of the organization starts getting its act together (or if necessary changes are made), Texas football can start getting back to being what Texas football should be. For the first time since Colt went down against Alabama, I am liking the direction things are headed.

Scipio on the momentum created by MJ's commitment  -- http://www.barkingcarnival.com/2014/12/19/7423857/malikmentum-2015-texas-football-recruiting-kris-boyd-daylon-mack

"............
Immediately, after Jefferson committed to Texas, his friend and confidante DT Daylon Mack - who also happens to be a top 5 state recruit - de-committed from Texas A&M.  Not coincidence.  Mack wants to play with Jefferson, his family likes the Horns and unless Longhorn DL coach Chris Rumph bricks the lay-up, it looks increasingly like that will happen.  No pressure, Coach.

It gets better...

Gilmer just won the 4A state title behind the play of the Boyd brothers and Blake Lynch (a Baylor commit).  Kris - a 2015 recruit - is my favorite cornerback in the state with plenty of physical upside still untapped, extraordinary ball skills and a border collie's change of direction.  He's kind of mean, too.  His younger brother, Demarco - a 2016 recruit - is a bruising, undersized ILB.

...................

CB Kendall Sheffield, ranked by most as the state's best cornerback recently reopened communications with the Longhorns.  He's a much tougher get, but at least there's now a shot.

RB Chris Warren, already leaning towards Texas, is probably sealed.

OOS, Texas still has several quality Florida kids in the mix, some of them they will now slow play in order to see what the Malikmentum has wrought closer to home.

Believe it or not, we're in the dead period.  What will the landscape look like in January when Texas can squeeze in some late visits?

If things fall correctly, a 28-30 man class is likely."

All 3 of these players enroll early, joining the JUCOs in Jan

BTW, Texas could not send this out until all of them were signed.
