Good read from one of my favorite columns: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/forty-observations-for-2014--irish-s-friendly-early-slate--big-house-s-ugly-schedule-152424431.html

Also, what story lines are y'all looking forward to in 2014 besides Texas Strong?

I'm interested in:

  • Chris Peterson's Washington Huskies.  No more month long preparations for BCS bowl games.  Games against good to elite teams every week.
  • Everett Golson's return to Notre Dame.  How will the Irish perform against a tougher schedule now it's a part-time ACC member?
  • Michigan Wolverine's should bench Devon Gardner at QB.  Move him back to WR.  You finally have true sophomore pro-style QB, Shane Morris, ready to take reigns at QB.  Will Doug Nussmeier's pro-style offense from Alabama translate to what Brady Hoke yearned since arriving at Michigan?
  • Stanford.  Gosh I love the Cardinal and David Shaw, but his conservative play calling has cost him a few games.  Wondering if this season might be the beginning mediocre football at Stanford?
  • Florida Gators - Found a QB yet?  Wondering how Muschamp and company will rebound.
  • New QBs across the SEC - Alabama, Texas A&M, Georgia, LSU, South Carolina
  • USC - Actually my dark horse team to win the PAC 12. Sarkisian and new staff at helm.

I like all your storylines and would add that I'm interested to see if there's another Big 10 team that will step up and play at tOSU's level (a la MSU in 2013).

Closer to home:

- UNT: Don't laugh...they're good.

- BYU: Can they build off 2013 success or are they treading water as usual?

- UCLA: How are they now that they're expected to win?

- KU: It's time for Weiss to produce - will he?

- BU: What can Briles & the Bears do to prove 2013 wasn't a fluke?

- OU: Will T. Knight be as good as he was in the bowl game against Bama?

- ISU: Rhoads is in his 6th year. Everybody likes & respects him, but isn't it time for ISU to take a step forward?

- KSU: Without Klein, does Snyder have a trick up his sleeve or will KSU fade to middle of the pack?

- TT: Year 2 of Coach Cool. Is he substance or fluff?

- WVU: Was 2013 an aberration or is the Big 12 exposing the Big East?

- OkStU: Are the Pokes good enough that they reload or do they have to rebuild?

- TCU: How good was TCU in the MWC days? (see WVU)

Lots of SEC love in that article. Doesn't sound like he thinks Texas has much of a shot against UCLA, but I can't really blame him with our question mark at QB.

Who is this year's Auburn? The surprise team that may lose a game early, but comes on to make a major impact.

How much controversy will we see in choosing the 4 playoff teams? Expect a couple of SEC teams to complain loudly about being left out. (Auburn, Alabama?) And how far do the Aggies fall? I'm guessing 7-5.

That said, my Final 4 are: Ohio St; Florida St; Oklahoma and LSU.

Horns come in at 8-4.....but if we can keep Ash healthy and beat UCLA, it could be a very interesting season.

UNT can play, but a good defense will shut them down. Still should be a bowl team out of C-USA this season.  Looking forward to the match up in San Antonio with the Roadrunners which just might decide the West Championship.

Obviously just how far the Roadrunners can rise is one of the storylines Ill be personally watching.

How far will Muschamp make it into the season?

Will A&M have the worst defense in SEC history?
