The SEC thread

I am curious on tie breakers on SEC title game.

In a nut shell Texas, Tennessee, and ags control their own destiny. Win out and you are in.

If Texas wins out and Tennessee loses to Georgia then how does the tie breaker work? Im guessing its Georgia because they are the only team to beat us?

"SEC’s tiebreaker rules run six tiers deep. The first tiebreaker is head-to-head record and the second is the tied teams’ record against common opponents. That second tiebreaker will probably be enough to break a tie. But in case it isn’t, the record against the best common conference opponent or opponents is the third tiebreaker and the best winning percentage of conference opponents is the fourth."

The issue with the 2nd and 3rd tiebreakers is that it is likely that the tied teams won't all share a common opponent.

Yea probably right. I am sure we will probably know after next weeks game.

If we win out we know its going be one of the following if they win out:
Georgia - Tennessee winner next week, Georgia loss they are out, Vol loss leaves them them still in it with 2 losses
Bama
Ole Miss
Mizzu
LSU

its confusing, of course we need to beat pigs and ags which I believe we will do.

If Texas loses to piggy, but beats aggy, UGa beats Tennessee then we have a hot mess. That would probably equal 6 teams at 6-2. The tiebreaker would make peoples heads hurt.

I don't want to think about a loss to pig. What a stain on the season.

The tie breaker rules are 22 pages long.

Wow Netflix blows. Buffering the Tyson fight every 5 minutes

Netflix really blew it tonight. Hyped it up to no end and then crapped their pants when the moment arrived.

I tried to watch it. Twice I was able to get it to work but only for a minute or two. It got old so I went a different direction.

I want Georgia again but both teams have a pass rush that will make Ewers feel the heat

Well the $ec official just called defensive PI so some of them know that rule!

Tennessee beating Georgia, 10-0 in the 2nd.

South Carolina beat Mizzou,34-30

Bama, Kentucky, aggy and Auburn played high school teams this week so who cares.

scheduling a high school team really is a good idea, now that Texas is in the SEC. It’s as good as a bye week. You can get your backups more reps, but also a week of healing for those that are injured.

Since we joined the sec sec, I have heard two consistent messages that seem to contradict:

1. Texas is in for a shock, going through the grind of an sec schedule. THERE ARE NO WEEKS OFF! We are in for a rude awakening come (this season).

Here we sit at 9-1 and the message has changed:

2. Texas has a cakewalk schedule. We are overrated because we haven't played a tough sec schedule.

What am I missing? Surely these two statements can be reconciled somehow?

Oh and an addendum to #2 - There has been an outcry that Texas did not play a road sec game until mid October.. "this has never happened before." I guess this would be a valid concern if the complaint was that we didn't have away games... but it's not. It is not that we have more home games... just that our away games came later in the schedule and one was at a neutral site. So, while you're reconciling the two complaints above, perhaps straighten me out on this addendum as well??

Thank you for the education I'm about to receive.
