Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-Recruiting)

Wow!  A guy that has never taken a snap before has better odds than Sam.  Thats completely asinine.  Imagine the pressure that puts on Rattler?  Look, I have a lot of respect for how Riley runs an offense, but who was the last QB he developed from scratch into a Heisman candidate or winner?

Baker Mayfield?  Nope

Kyler Murray? Nope

Jalen Hurts? Hello no.

No doubt Riley helped them get there, but let's hold off on anointing him the QB whisperer until he develops a QB from start to finish.

Per IT, LB DeMarvion Overshown is currently sitting out with an illness and they don't know when he's scheduled to return.

They were told it's not serious, and it's not COVID.

I have read this several times to be extra sure, but I interpret this as a guy like Ehlinger being allowed to return for 2021 if he wants to.

I think Chris Ash going to Texas, he’s not a good defensive coach. He’s an elite defensive coach with an elite reputation and can develop players. - Urban Meyer

Not a huge Urban fan but he knows how to win. I remember him also saying that Chris Ash is one of the best recruiters that he’s been around.  Coming from Urban that’s pretty high praise. Cautiously optimistic ??

Urban is not always right. :) :)

Former Ohio State coach Urban Meyer encouraged Zach Smith to stay with the Buckeyes in January 2018 after the then-assistant coach was pursued by Alabama, according to text messages from Meyer to Smith.

Good job defending Urban. Way to go.
So that's what you took away from that post?

Here is an interesting question, is it possible, better yet probable, that players like Derek Kerstetter and Tarik Black could come back in 2021?  Obviously, if either of them get a 1st through 3rd round draft grade then they should take it.  However, what if their grade is lower or even at the UFA level? The new NCAA ruling makes this a possibility now.
