*****Game Thread - Texas vs. San Jose State

No I don't realize that. I want Warren running the ball not the QB unless Heard is in the game. With the Defense playing like they did today, a  run first mindset, and an efficient QB keeping the opponent from stacking the box. We can win a lot of football games
Do you think even for a second that a mobile QB stresses a defense in more ways than a non-mobile one?

Absolutely. I also believe Sam is more mobile than Shane but neither one of them have game changing running ability. Heard does which is why we will continue to see him at QB. Sam was great and he definitely has the gunslinger mentality but I don't think his running ability is as significant as Buecheles grasp of the game at this point.

What I'm most excited about is the 180 the defense performed this week. SJ State is a team that likes a quick tempo and averaged over 400 yds in their first two games. Next is the OLine. Ehlinger had plenty of time to sit in the pocket. That was a welcome change after last week. Third was the running game.

ST play is still a concern.

I'm not trying to be a downer, but I'm going to be cautiously optimistic about this game. We made a freshman QB look like a freshman QB today, exactly what Texas is supposed to do to SJSU. I think we took a step in the right direction today. Our inability to get to the QB really concerns me. Especially with Darnold and Mayfield coming up.

J.T Barrett hasn't been the same since Herman left, and neither has the offense. Meyer needs to worry about finding his own pixie dust than worrying about Herman's.

I would love to be no worse than 3-2 going into the okie two-step. I think that sets us up for a successful season.

Mayfield planted the OU flag at the 50 in the Horseshoe post game.  That was for the Ohio State band dotting the I after the game in Norman last year.

I can take a USC loss but won't be able to do with a OU loss. You won't see me here for 2-3 weeks that I'll for need recovery time.

Dang CP...unfortunately I have to agree...damn smh
I'm... excuse my language f'n nervous about this game. We (I have a vested emotional interest) haven't beat a team like USC (top 10) that wasn't ou in conference in a while.

It's a prime time game and I would hate this new regime to sh* t the bed on national TV like that.

Last time they played a top 10 team they beat them so I'm hoping for a little magic...

I'll certainly be doing a lot of self help this week.

In three of the next five weeks, we'll see Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield and Mason Rudolph. Should be interesting.

USC is a very good offensive team. We'll need to play far better defense than we did today to win.

Cen Michigan showed us USC can be run on. We discovered we have a running game today. I hope we take full advantage. Run the clock, churn the yardage and keep the USC offense off the field. Mistakes will have to be at a minimum.

This will be the best team we see all season.

I mean technically we did that last year. They just proved to not be a very good football team towards the end.

If Texas can keep the ground game going by using Heards mobility in certain situations and Buchelle throwing the rock..Horns could make next week a very competitive game against USC..imo

I recorded the game and I'm rewatching it now. Just watched Warren's long 41 yard TD. At the end of run Sam is down there blocking. I appreciate the effort and moxie, but he needs to stay away from that. We can't have him getting hurt period, let alone on a play where he is the blocker.
