2017 Recruiting Thread Part 1

SHA, you got any good information on recruits? Any inside information you can share?

Other than the Meachum/TCU info I shared earlier, I don't have anything or I'd have already shared it.

I'll make a couple calls tomorrow and see what happens when I shake the tree.

The offers are flying left and right, but inside info has been dry. Usually is for a while with a new regime.

".....So far, things have been busy but pretty quiet as far as news goes. There is still reason to believe that Texas is in great standing with Gary Johnson. The nation's top junior college inside linebacker moved up his OV to this weekend and could end things soon.

Colorado commit Grant Polley is also a commit candidate. While he has been publicly solid, we have been told that Texas is in a prime position to flip him after Sunday's meeting with the coaches....."

Love it. They might be building this up for an exciting NSD finish like tge last two classes.

Ok, just got off the phone with one of my friends. I'll put them in brief bullet points.

– Described the current class as "decent." And thats including those he thinks will finish out the class. Said its a very good class with a couple of players the staff feels are very underrated (Daniel Young, and the LB we got). He said it was hard to call Toneil Carter underrated when he's a 4-star, but he said he's underrated. Power and speed we haven't seen in a while.

– Thinks Gary Johnson will cancel SC visit and commit to Texas.

– Chaisson is all Texas and was recruiting before his visit to LSU. Chaisson to Texas.

– Not nearly as confident with the Calloway recruitment. But thinks the kid is a steal if we can get him.

– Staff is not pressed at DT, but likes the one they're recruiting right now a bunch. If not him, then may pass and look to next year. Last year's DT class makes this possible.

– Repeated something he's said before to me. We'll have a top 3 class next year.

– Said to expect an OOS TB to be in the class next year. Said there will be as many as six OOS members of that class, most of whom will be Drayton's recruits. He said the lowest ranked of those OOS'ers will be a 4-star. Says we'll take back the state, but cherry pick the OOS'ers and do that moreso than Mack or Charlie ever did.

– Just gushed over the recruiting prowess of this staff. Said if Texas could have had 9 or 10 wins this year, we'd still be in it for Browning and the others we've whiffed on to date. Perhaps already have them. Said we'll see 9-10 wins this year and it will propel the recruiting even moreso. He was really stoked about this, the future.

– Concerned about the QB position. Said we'll get by, but if Kyle Allen had transferred, he'd start. He said you can't say that and feel good about it.

Great news SHA. Hopefully we'll land Calloway and the Chaisson news is huge. One final question, I know OOS means out of state but what does TB mean? Tailback?
