We are all pretty confident that we just saw Charlie coach his last game for the Longhorns. With that being said then we know a new Head Coach will be wearing burnt orange this spring. I think the new Coach will be making some significant changes to the personel on the field and though many of you will disagree with me I think Buechele as the starting QB will be one of those changes especially if Herman is the next Head Coach. I just do not think Buechele has the athleticism, and arm strength even working the weights in the off season to be a starting QB and I could see Herman trying to find someone who is more athletic that he can coach up at the QB position to be his starter. I can also see alot of changes to the Defensive side of the ball with more speed at the Safty positions and at the LB position. If Malik Jefferson stays for another season I could see them pairing him with Hagger to put more speed on the outside edge to pressure the QB's and let someone else take over as the MLB. Put Roach as noseguard to plug up the middle and have our cornerbacks play much tighter to the receivers. This weekend should be the ending of one story and the beginning of a new story and hopefully with a much happier ending.

Woah, woah. Let's tap the breaks a little bit. Buechele is a true freshman and proved he has what it takes in the beginning of this year. He showed he has a lot of room for growth but if anything, I feel QB is somewhere we can feel comfortable next year.

Blake, you and I completely disagree. I think both of us have our subjective opinions but here this is what I think:
Buechele is always one moderate hit from being knocked out of the game.
He did not show that he has what it takes against the best teams on the schedule.
He can throw the hitch and the bomb. If you press his receivers and have a safety over the top of the streak, the guy is average.
He never attacks the middle of the field.
He is not a threat to run.
He is too small. Regardless of his measurements, he plays tiny.
His numbers are inflated and hollow. He is completely inefficient.
Players do not look at him like a leader. Some people have it, some don't. He doesn't.
And with all respect to the Ville, I do not like the way he runs their offense.
No doubt Buechele appears to have had this two worst games back to back at season end. But who was calling the plays? I agree with Nobis 60 on BC, Horns "ran about eight plays, blocked two of them well" all game, every three and out.
I sincerely hope Texas is not looking forward to our third high school freshman QB in five years to get the program back into conference and national championship play.
I'm no Herman fan, needs a shave, but as much as The University wants to be politically correct , Strong has proven he was a bad choice and can't be allowed another year of not getting players developed and coached up for each unique opponent (Kst).
It's time The University takes a step back, gather resources and marshal them on a legitimate coaching search team. No outside consultants, Texas has the alumni talent available to form a search team that can do the job. The University can't afford another mistake.

The regents (including the McRaven) don't have the legal authority under Texas state law to hire and fire employees at UT Austin. It is the sole discretion of the university President to hire the head football coach. The regents only approve or reject the proposed contract.
One reason Saban was a no-go in 2014 is because the regents involved themselves and Powers, still pissed at the Wallace Hall shit, was determined to protect his turf and not let the regents have any input into who was hired.

Charlie's job status should factor into D'Onta's decision. The man did allow him to have 51 carries in one game which I think is a travesty. In a well-balanced offense there is no need for 51 carries. Did no one factor in his work load? Track his carries? Those were hard-earned yards. I surprised he was able to come back and play effectively yesterday.
I believe that Charlie actually cost him some money this year because we weren't better, and I've come to the conclusion that it is lack of attention to detail, probably due to time constraints and his own tendencies. He is probably not a detail person That's ok, some of the greatest people I know are not, but he is in a job that requires it, or must hire it.
D'Onta should come back if we hire a great offensive coach, unless he is assured a first round draft pick, and I doubt he will be. He will get a great insurance policy, which The University can legitimately pay for, and his draft stock should go up next year.
One more thing. For anyone who doubts the effect of coaching, did you watch Baylor play Tech last night? Art Briles is a scumbag, but he was a good football coach. The Baylor at the end of the year is a shadow of Baylor at the beginning of the year, and I think it is a reflection of coaching. Same talent, a few months older, practicing bad habits for 3 months, looked terrible against Texas Tech, who isn't very good. That's the result of a lack of good head coach folks.
