Just crapped on the #3 team in the country and their Heisman Trophy candidate (11 sacks).

Where are we?

#14 Offense.

#106 Defense.

Good thing Charlie is an offensive genius.....wait what?

A recent win over then No. 8-ranked Baylor and the season’s first road victory over Texas Tech helped spark some optimism.

BON still with their head in sand over there in Charlie butt kissing land.

I fully expect for Texas to screw this up and retain the worst coach in Texas history all the while Herman will be winning championships somewhere else...

let's go after that DC

UT can keep hiring all the coordinates in the world, but why should the program settle for a $5 million a year figurehead of a HC? He had to have the U Pres go to Tulsa to get a hire. Just what good has he been as a HC? I like Charlie as a man, but damn, he was brought here to win.

One question I have always had about that issue. Was Charlie authorized (monetarily) to bring Gilbert's offensive line coach when he offered Gilbert? If he was not then this entire issue was a failure before Charlie ever got on the plane. I have always assumed that Charlie was undercut on this deal. If you can cite that Charlie had the ability, in principal, to add Gilbert's line coach (and his salary) I will alter my way of thinking on this issue.

How was CFS "undercut" on the hiring of an OL coach? Mattox is here, isn't he?

Before we get all happy about Houston's defense, remember SMU beat that defense. SMU did. SMU.

Here is my point. If Charlie was sent to Tulsa to offer Gilbert the job as OC for Texas but Charlie didn't have the authority to both approve the hiring of Mattox and/or the authority to agree to Mattox' contract demands then Texas sent him to a gun fight with a knife.
So if the person with the ability to authorize either the Mattox deal and/or his contract was Fenves and/or Perrin then blaming Charlie for that situation is unfounded. However, if Charlie had full authority to hire and agree to the contract then I will admit he flubbed the negotiation.

All I have heard was Charlie flubbed the deal but I never heard any follow up. Until I do I will wonder.

To say 'he is here, isn't he?' is not proof that Charlie screwed up the negotiation.

It's a moot point.

Who cares if Charlie screwed it up the first go 'round? If so, Fenves had his back.
Again, you have no foundation to claim Charlie screwed up the first round of negotiations. When you do I will accept that he screwed it up.Further, the point is not moot. If Charlie was not allowed to make the deal then he didn't screw up, did he?

Moreover, the bungled negotiation is being used as a talking point to fire Charlie. I have no beef if people want to argue that he deserves to be fired on his record alone. That is a matter of opinion. But let's get our facts straight first.
