*****Texas vs. Notre Dame Game Thread*****

Ricky Williams is not happy on LHN
I was just about to post on that.  I do believe part of the problem here is Watson an UNPROVEN OC.  Charlie said in press conference they needed to run so why did J Gray have 2 carries in the first half?  Oh because ND was playing the run?  Well no shit.   Line up and run the fkn ball.  Watson reminds me of the Dad Coaching his son in middle school league at QB.  Throw it 60 yards baby.  Remember the dance he did vs Iowa State after Swoopes through 2 long passes to win the game.  This guy is pass happy after all he is a QB Coach.  Our line was talked about being better suited to run the ball not pass block.

I think Watson is a dud, period.  Run the fkn ball moron and stop these idiotic 3 and outs.  I love CS but he has to get more involved with offense.

Getting him started off with Rice is the right call. Give him a chance to learn and warm up before facing Cal. It's important we don't overlook Rice.

I like Swoopes. I think he's a great kid who had a dream of playing in DKR like all of us did. But like most of us, he's simply not talented enough to do it. I hope he finds nothing but success in life. But I don't think he should be under center going forward.
Im agree Bevo. A humble kid like him will definitely win in life. I have no doubt about it.

Maybe we should actually give Wickline play calling duties.

Watson actually said Ty was competing so hard the second half we decided to let him continue to play?????  Was he watching the same game I was?  Ever snap Swoopes takes is a snap wasted.

Watson says that "Ty was competing and playing well…they felt like Ty was their best chance to get positive things going"

I would like to know the true thought behind that

Naashon Hughes isn't quiet.

I completely agree with everything you said. There comes a point as a coach where you want a kid to succeed, but soon your job comes into to question and you have to do something or you will be gone. I think that point is coming sooner rather than later for Watson. Heard and Locksley are your best chances right now and in the future. It all starts with the QB. The right QB can make an average Oline look good.

Bobby Burton said this week that he didn't think Swoopes had it in him as a QB and that we should have switched to the spread instead of faster version of last year's offense. He also said Watson doesn't have it in him to run the spread.

If there is no improvement in the offense in the next couple of games then we need to switch the offense to fit Herard's ability. If that means that Norvell or Traylor takes over the offense that's fine with me. My understanding is that it's easier on the OL when you run the spread.

The last three games is beginning to show that we may have nothing to lose to switch from Swoopes and Watson, we can't do much worse.

Malik had 9 tackles 2.5 tfl

says "he didn't feel comfortable in coverage" ..  "we need to find our identity on both sides of the ball"

Bobby Burton is right. I mean what do we have to lose? We're likely looking at a near .500 season anyways. Might as well make the best moves we can to put ourselves in a position to win in 2016.

I'm not sure where the hostility is coming from. I never called you a kid or insulted you in any form. You may not be calling for anything but multiple of the posters agreeing with you have. You can look at the records over the past few years of Mack's career all you like. But we both know those records aren't indicative of the product on the field. We beat weak teams and were beaten by good ones. People had been calling for Mack's job for years.
I don't know what 'the records weren't indicative of the product on the field' means. You are what your record says you are. People were calling for Macks job because we were slumming in the 8-9 win neighborhood. THAT neighborhood makes the trailer park we're in now look pretty good.
And do the FR today make me feel good about 2018? 2018???? There are numerous examples of coaches old and new rebuilding in 2 years. 2018 would be Charlie's 5th. He ain't got that long.
