*****Texas vs. Notre Dame Game Thread*****

No turnovers this game, but Swoopes didn't have much time to throw all night.  The Irish defense was all over him.
Maybe if he wasnt trying to hold the ball for 5 seconds and throw it down field 60 yards every pass then he might

ND is not a title contender... Anybody who things so is giving us a bit more credit that we deserve. ND is mud stomping a team that is not ready, very upsetting. ND wont see its way into the final 4, Ill bet that any day of the week.
I suppose all of the gurus predicting ND in the final four have a few screws loose?

It has nothing to do with defending Texas. Texas has played horribly. There is no if, and of but about it. But discrediting Notre Dame because it's us is doing the same thing.

I was really excited to see how our DLine (strength of our team) would play again a talented Offensive line. They have looked average also. This is what kinda bothers me going forward. Besides our Zombie Offense.

IMO, Harsin really screwed Texas when he said "No" to JT Barrett and "Yes" to Swoopes.
Stop! It's all Charlie's fault! Oh and Patterson, his fault too! They should have reversed time and recruited competent players so we'd be solid when they joined the program.

I mean, really? Notre Dame has enough talent to play in the National Championship game this year. We're fielding several freshman due to the past coaches lax recruiting. This is arguably the toughest team on our schedule. And we're going to freak out? Have none of you ever experienced a rebuild? Did you think that it would only take Strong one season to right a ship that had been neglected for five years?

Calm down. Don't go full Aggy. This isn't time to meltdown. We're day 1.
you win the Baghdad Bob award. ND is an 8-5 team with a QB making his first start. They're preseason 11, not one. We were 9.5 pt dogs, not 35. The offense looks as inept as the Texas Bowl. The defense looks worse.
Tonight couldn't possibly have gone worse. Not freaking out, not giving up, not on the window ledge. If anything, happy I saved a ton of money not going. But 'stay calm, all is well' rings pretty damn hollow tonight.

Duke, you're as irrational as they come. You've pounding your anti-Strong semitism well before he took to the sidelines. Don't need to hear it. The fact you don't see Brown and Co. as being incredibly at fault here is sign enough of your ignorance to the state of this team. This isn't a good football team. It was a terrible football team when Charlie strong took it over. It's going to take time to rebuild. Tell us more about our roster count and Steve Patterson. I'm sure we'll all understand soon enough.
If you are going to take shots at me, get it right. I have never been anti-Strong. That is something you have totally fabricated in your mind. I get why the apologists resort to that attack. Labeling someone "anti-Charlie Strong" is favored ad hominem for those who have no defense for the state of the program. I am anti-Shawn Watson, have been since the day he was hired and have been totally vindicated in that opinion. Watson is incapable of running an offense at this level and if Charlie Strong truly believed in accountability, Watson would have been relieved after the final two games of last season.

This team sucks and it will be a monumental struggle to make it to 6-6 this season. Ricky Willliams had it right this afternoon when he picked the team to go 5-7. The team is an embarrassment and simply isn't improving. Again, it isn't just me saying this team will have a losing record. Maybe Ricky Williams is also "anti-Charlie Strong."

Blame it all on Mack Brown if you want to, but remember Mack went 9-4 and 8-5 in his last two seasons. A lot of the rest of us are going to put the responsibility for the embarrassment this team has brought to the university straight on Charlie Strong's shoulders. Either Coach Strong starts making some staff changes soon or he is going to start losing one hell of a lot of support. It is one thing to lose to a better team. It is something totally different to come out game after game after game completely unprepared.

And managing to beat Rice next week isn't going to prove the ship has been righted. If Cal humiliates the team in a couple of weeks, blaming it all on Mack Brown is going to seem pretty silly.

Danger fo rme is how calm I am watching this game.  I am getting to the point of just not caring anymore and I hate that.

Some of that is on Swoopes though. Very little composure. Kept looking at the rush instead of the progression. SLOW as molasses and runs straight up. Very indecisive in the passing game.

All of that hurt the overall attempt to conduct an offensive strategy, IMO. It's like having a brand new car and your key is broken.

Heard looked better than Swoopes tonight. Not by much, but better.

you should stop. Strongs predecessor won 8,9 and 8 and got fired. CS didn't inherit a 3-9 team. I agree, we weren't talent rich. My biggest problem is tonight seemed like a repeat of the dismal end to last year. Where's the progress?

This game was over in the first qtr...pretty sad when you realize that fact. I can already hear the post game report same old bullshit from last season..too many young guys, too many negative plays blah blah blah....pathetic performance tonight!!!

Can't argue with any of that, unfortunately.

Armani Foreman has been showing a lot of frustration on almost every play. There is something going on with communication down there.
