SEC Bias discussion

look at the list of voters and tell me who is most likely to be influenced by an sec-biased media. condi rice? barry alvarez? tom osborne? pat haden? the ad of clemson? the former pres of the ncaa who was an oregon grad? the former superintendent of the AF academy? ty willingham? i'm forgetting a couple.

there's one sec rep...the ad from arky. the one guy who might have been biased, archie manning, pulled out

a good conspiracy needs a motive. not much motive for the folks above to stack the deck with sec teams. just the opposite actually.

I agree with you... None of them have any reason to ACTIVELY act with any bias... But to think that what they see daily from the media doesn't effect their thoughts as it would ANY person placed on that panel, is illogical to me. There isn't a segment on ESPN you can see that doesn't pump the sec as the greatest thing since the iPhone. Dismissing the panel completely, because neither of us have any inside look into it, the bias is a much bigger issue than who they select into the tournament... Before the panel I had and issue with it and I still do. It effects money, recruits, support, current players, etc...

i've seen plenty of espn segments that don't pump the sec. i think they're sensing that that's the perception and they're going the other way.

whatev...the media didn't make the sec good. the media didn't make the nfl select 11 first rounders last year. the sec is good. non sec fans sound whiny on this issue.

until somebody beats them consistently, you better get used to them being considered and covered as the best league.

The media absolutely did help build the sec into what they are currently... We must be watching ESPN at different times because the 4 segments that I watched today belittled every other conference. You're right, the only thing that will change that is beating them... Now if only they would schedule more than one decent OOC team a season to play... Which they don't. They do a great job at making sure they minimize any chances of loss outside of their terms. Which is generally the first game of the season... Thats probably because the only teams being effected negatively by this ideal are NON SEC fans.

Or the rest of the CFB world needs to follow that model... Play one decent team, then your other OOC games are Jr Highs, then play your conference games so we can all claim "we just beat up on each other." If there is zero incentive to play legit OOC teams, why not.

sorry boys. the sec's NC run began in '06. Eight years before the SEC network and when the big SEC game of the week was on CBS. In '05 we (texas fans) were bitching about the ESPN biased humping of USC as the greatest team of all time.  seems like we're always bitching.

the last 3 cotton bowls, the big12 #2 has lost by double digits to the sec 3 or 4. the 'paper tiger' that is auburn is the only team to beat k-st. in manhattan. those are facts. it's not espn hype.

sorry...my team is 4-5. i just can't get too worked up over whether miss st, auburn, et al are overrated while we're in the crapper.

y'all are convinced it's smoke and mirrors. i think there's more substance than hype.

good night all.

Gotta give the SEC credit for stumbling on a winning formula - aggie has fully embraced it.

But, OOC games vs FCS teams in November? They're just awful!  A season ticket holder should be pissed to have to pay for that crap!  Why doesn't that ever hurt them in the polls?

So you've shown ESPN has a history of pimping the untrue, on a grand scale. Just like we're saying they're doing now.

I'll just leave this #SECbias graphic here...

Yep, no evidence here... It's all completely in our heads.
I know, right? 3 of the top 5 teams are in one division. A college football show should be talking about something else.
Bad news fellas. #1 travels to #4 this week. I'd expect that game to be a hot topic of conversation regardless of conference affiliation.

Now, back to your whining.

It's plays like this against the always-salty aggies defense that make paper-tiger, Auburn, a Top 10 team.  Derp
