*****GAME THREAD: CFP SemiFinal - Texas vs Ohio State*****

We're going up against the #1 defense? They played Oregon twice, Penn st, Indiana, Tenn. We played CO state, LA-mon and UTSA. It doesn't look good for us.
And they played Akron, W. Mich. and Marshall. What's your point? You're cherry picking. OSU is peaking, but that doesn't mean Texas can't withstand. Texas has skins on the wall as well.

Long time, no post. Anyone else seeing/reading that Will Stone is getting 1st team reps on FGs?
Going to be interesting to see what Texas does at FG the rest of this season.

The only miss Auburn has under 40 yards this season was the 38 yarder he missed against ASU. He is 6/14 on kicks of 40+. I do believe Will Stone has the stronger leg, hence why he does kickoffs.

Does Stone take over all FG kicking, does he get the nod on longer kicks and Auburn takes the short ones? Do we roll with Auburn and if he misses one, change to Stone?

It's not an ideal situation regardless.

My guess in this game is that we’re going to see concepts and lots of pre-snap movement on the offensive side that we haven’t seen much of this season, similar to what we saw last season vs Bama. I think Sark will spread the running backs out wide as receivers from time to time, possibly early in this game to try to get Ohio State’s front 7 moving east/ west with the hope that we can tire them out. If this is successful, we could have some success running the ball in the ladder stages of the game.
In most instances the running backs will start wide and the entire backfield will shift to a normal formation, this will do two things, 1. It’ll keep Ohio State honest and will keep them from disguising their defense 2. It will keep Ohio State’s defense on their toes and hopefully cause some confusion and potentially open up their defense to be exploited

Oh come on, at least try to present an honest comparison. Your credibility isn't worth the point you're trying to make.

Conveniently, you leave out OSU playing Western Michigan, Akron, Marshall, Northwestern, Purdue.

And we all know why.

I think you are right.

Rod Babers calls these Sarks Cheat codes. Pre-snap motion, passing targets to players in motion before the snap, extreme formations like empty or 2 running back packages, formerly the 6-oline package (which we haven't seen at all this year) which is now more 2 TE packages.

He usually increases the usage of these in big games.

Time to let it all hang out this game. I hope Sarkisian shows his playbook magic because we will need it. If we cannot run the ball again it is going to be a long night at Jerryworld.

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?????

It ain’t over till we was it’s over.

I visited with a friend who communicates weekly with one of our coaches. The staff is extremely confident with winning this game. They love that the press is giving us no chance. We did not take Arizona St seriously and even though it almost cost us the game plan on both sides of the ball was basic. They believe our physicality will be a problem for the buckeyes at the los. They think that’s their Achilles hill but Tenn nor Oregon couldn’t expose it and neither could many teams in conf.

Personally I have my doubts but the team believes we are going to shock everyone. I hope they are correct.

I read a post from a credible guy on another forum today. He said he speaks with one of the coaches almost weekly. He says the staff is very confident. Says they stayed with a vanilla plan against ASU and admitted they kinda overlooked them to an extent. Texas thinks they have a plan that will work against OSU.

Just thought that was interesting.

Actually, they are at the Gaylord Texan, which is in Grapevine. Nice play to stay and an easier route to Arlington.
