The Texas Longhorns (10-1, 7-1) close out the regular season tonight at Darrell K. Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium as they host the Texas Tech Red Raiders (6-5, 5-3) on Senior Night. The Longhorns will honor and bid farewell to many senior players, as well as their rivalry with the Red Raiders which began in 1928.
Texas has won five straight since losing to Oklahoma, while Texas Tech has a three-game win streak of their own. Tonight’s game has tremendous significance for the ‘Horns – A win for vaults them into the Big 12 Championship Game for the first time since 2018. A loss doesn’t preclude them, but they will need help from some of the other conference matchups taking place on Friday/Saturday.
Texas Tech won last year’s matchup in Lubbock 37-34, which led to Joey McGuire’s comments about the Longhorns “breaking” and the “Big 12 running through Lubbock.” The Red Raiders would love nothing more than to play spoiler in this game, in which the Longhorns are favored by 12.5 points.
