The Texas Longhorns (8-1, 5-1) enter Amon G. Carter Stadium today for the final time as members of the Big 12 Conference when they face the TCU Horned Frogs (4-5, 2-4). The battle between these two teams is always tough, and TCU has won more of them than the Longhorns since the Frogs joined the Big 12 Conference in 2012. Texas fans received a significant boost of good news on Thursday when head coach Steve Sarkisian announced that Quinn Ewers would return as the starting quarterback. Sark’s news is timely, as Texas controls its own destiny relative to a Big 12 Championship Game appearance and title. As team health is concerned, the Longhorns will have almost every player available for the TCU game. At week 11 in the regular season, this is impressive and the Longhorns will benefit down the stretch.

TCU played for a national championship last season but they have struggled this season. Sonny Dyke’s team has had trouble with good offenses and have played only one ranked team in Kansas State. The Frogs lost that game 41-3. However, TCU is 8-3 against the Longhorns in Big 12 head -to-head matchups and they face the Longhorns at home.

The Longhorns boast a Top-20 offense nationally (18th), putting up an average of 456 yards of total offense per game. The Frogs are better statistically in that category, ranking 16th with 462 yards per game. The Longhorns have fared better on defense, allowing 331.2 yards per game to TCU’s 384.9 yards per game.

The spread in this game jumped from 9.5 to 12.5 points in favor of Texas with the news that Quinn Ewers will be starting under center. TCU needs two wins to become bowl eligible and this game is a must-win for Sonny Dykes.

Kickoff comes at 6:30 PM with the game being televised on ABC.

It will be nice if we can keep TCU from bowl eligibility. Nice kick to the nuts as we exit the conference.

Just gonna say it this team seems to always play at the level of their opponent
