2024-2025 Transfer Portal Thread

My guess is, they didn't like the package deal with the Branch brothers.
or
Texas dropped the pursuit because they didn't think he would be a good fit.
or
There's someone they like better coming soon.
That kind of reminds me of the situation with the Boyd brothers Kris and Demarco

Hasnt this guy been kind of a bust at NC? Maybe its Mack Brown development but I thought I read that somewhere.

I assume you're referring to Shaw, the DL from NC. If he was bad, he wouldn't have the amount of snaps he's had. Somebody thought he was pretty good.
He can play at nose or DT. Very good at occupying blockers as he's been double teamed at times.

As for ou's pick up of FSU's Jones, I'm kinda meh on that one.

Excellent and much, much needed get for next year. Until yesterday, it was looking like the DL would be January, Hills, Purdue transfer and 3 true freshman. While I think J. Terry will be getting meaningful snaps next year, I was concerned about having to rely on him. Maybe he is the DL version of Kelvin Banks, but he could also be the DL version of DJ Campbell where he needs a year to develop.

Yea my bad I replied to wrong post, I meant shaw. I read somewhere he hasnt performed well.

From reddit regrading Shaw

"Was not very good after high expectations. UNC was a country club program so it’s tough to blame him but he rarely put in the work necessary to be great."

"Plays his pads too high, tries to shoot gaps instead of occupying blockers, is good for one play a game that makes you think he’s figuring it out.

After seeing Alfred Collins break out this year, I think y’all may be able to unlock his potential. But UNC’s player development was hilariously poor under Mack (I’m sure you understand), and I hope it’s not too late for him.

I bet y’all can turn him into a day 2 pick. Think Belichick may have been able to too, but no guarantees there."

Would like one more LB on this team, but the pickings in the portal are slim.

Brevard and Shaw are good pieces for the DL depth rotation next year. January, Hills, Shaw, Brevard as the main rotation with Terry, Sharma and Charles getting some work and experience.

Edge is set even if Moore moves on. Simmons and Burke as starters with Vasek (if he can stay healthy) and Umeozulu as backups. Jackson and Orogbo will get reps during the season.

LB is the one position on D they need to concentrate on. It's fine for next year because A. Hill is back, but after that the talent level drops a little. T. Smith and Lefau will be the only ones with experience for 2026. I don't know much about Spence from Arky. Hopefully Barnes will be as advertised, but Cunningham will need to develop into the position.

On the offense:

Banks is gone and assuming Cam is also gone and DJ Campbell comes back, I could see an OL of (Left to Right): Goosby, Umeozulu, Hudson/Cruz, Campbell, Baker.

I wasn't too impressed with this years OL haul, but Nick Brooks looks like he could develop into something really good. They need to do whatever they can to get OT Turntine for 2025. He is a lot like Banks.
