I keep hearing people call for a new "play caller." I believe it goes beyond that.... we need a new offensive system.

From the view I have from my recliner, it looks to me like this offense is what was run in the NFL in the 1990s. It is slow developing long pass-routes that require a long time in the pocket. The OL is bunched up... very close splits. The QB is almost forbidden to ever run the ball. And by watching our last two QBs, I'd say it is way too complicated on them -- especially in college with so much turnover.

This may all be wrong.... But I highly doubt just having someone else call plays is the fix we're all hoping for.

The Westcoast offense is the best offense IMO, this is about execution, our Online and QB are not making slide adjustments properly on the oline, Arch also does not seem to have autonomy to make audibles at the line, how many times did we see Quinn making adjustments at the Oline, one of which will make him be remembered forever on that 4th down play vs. ASU, Arch does not seem to do that at all. Also, have you noticed that we no longer run RPOs as much, I assume that Sark already knew he could not trust Arch to make the right reads, this started early last season. I think it was hard to diagnose what was going on with the offense last season, it is now more glaringly obvious that it is Arch. Unfortunately for Sark, he has developed the two QBs behind Arch to run this dumbed down offense, so I do not think you will see much improvement on the offense even if there is a QB change. In order for this offense to get going, Sark needs to open up the playbook wider, he is limited to what Arch can do, it would take an entire offseason to prep the new QBs to a more complicated offense

I think we need to see what Cole Hutson can do at Center, he started there before being kicked out to Guard
Didnt Sikorski cross train at C? I mean I'm good with Goosby, Seymore/Hutson, Sikorski, Baker and Siani.

I saw some plays where I think Baker looks bad, but I think it's because Robertson took the wrong assignment and he was caught flat footed.

And now this.

I've watched film breakdown after film breakdown of the last two weeks and they all seem to say the same thing, Sark's play calling has been solid. I'm not here to praise the almighty Sark or defend him, but I've seen multiple sessions that point to the problem being the QB 1st and OL 2nd. Sounds like the WRs running great routes and the calls had multiple layers of attack. As I've said before and I will say it again, the blame for losses always goes on the coach while the praise for wins goes to the players. With that said, I don't think Sark can dial or dumb down the offense anymore.

This is a good one to check out:

I think the best offense going (in college) is what people are running from the "Briles tree." We ran it one year with Sterlen Gilbert.

I'm curious what exactly you mean by the "West Coast Offense." When I hear "West Coast Offense" what comes to my mind is what Bill Walsh is credited for innovating. Short passes almost like "pass-runs" that get RBs or WRs the ball quickly in space. Not what would be called "physical" at all.... you're not lining up and running over people, so a smaller OL that can pull, and get to the outside are actually preferred. If this is what you mean, I don't see that we're running it (or trying to run it) at all.

Now I'll shut up and let you respond....
