Texas Longhorns Fall Camp 2026

Some notes from the OTF crew:

– Jeff Banks already was without a voice about 15 minutes to the team being on the field. Steve Casula was VERY hands on with the tight ends today. He had a ton of coaching and critiques for the group. Casula was the the co-offensive coordinator and tight ends coach for the University of Michigan in 2025.

Full look at the RB order:

RB1A: Hollywood Smothers
RB1B: Raleek Brown
RB3: Ryan Niblett
RB4: Derrek Cooper
RB5: Michael Terry III
RB6: James Simon
RB7: Jett Walker

– Jaydon Chatman was the first team left guard today. Laurence Seymore is most certainly the shortest offensive line body that Texas has had in the Sarkisian/Flood era. He worked with the third group at left guard. But I definitely saw explosiveness off the line, something that Trevor Goosby mentioned at SEC Media Days.

– Jermaine Bishop Jr. had a tremendous outing catching the football. It is very interesting that he is a no-gloves guy in these settings. I don't know if that will carry over to games, but that's something that definitely stood out.

— Manning’s deep ball looks good as he hit Wingo in the back corner of the end zone on the last play before media was ushered out.

– Offensive line No. 1 Group: Trevor Goosby, Jaydon Chatman, Connor Robertson, Brandon Baker, Melvin Siani. Seymore looked a little out of place at 6'2. But he is explosive. He ran with the 3's today.
A few other notes. Muschamp already coaching them hard today, chewed some tail on the practice field. Bishop got some reps at DB today. Black practiced exclusively at safety. Littleton is being cross trained at CB.

BREAKING – Cole Hutson's camp has come to an agreement with the NCAA so that he may play this season. He will not have to follow through with the previously scheduled court date and can immediately report to camp.

Black at safety is very intriguing. Muschamp places a high value on man coverage.... and safeties who can do man coverage. Black might be the best safety in man coverage - moving from cornerback??

Don't be too surprised if Black gets a lot of gametime at safety.... or dare I say, starts next to McDonald! Especially when you consider that Filsame seems to be playing exclusively at nickel.

I think this is better news for Texas than many realize. With 9 SEC games... depth all over is critical -- and hard to come by in this new era where you backups can shop their services around every offseason.

Some notes from OTF from today's practice:

– LG Jaydon Chatman was not 100% today. Not sure what it is, but he was there and participating, but clearly not 100%. Sikorski got the bulk of the reps today.

– Punt returners right now: Ryan Niblett, Daylan McCutcheon, then Jermaine Bishop Jr.

– DT Alex January has taken on a physical transformation since last year. The training has been good to him.

– TE Masunas is separating from the pack. Just does everything right.

– All three QBs were improved from yesterday.

– Coaches are flinging balls at the secondary during drills. Anyone who drops one does push ups.

– Derek Williams/Jelani McDonald, Xavier Filsaime/Kobe Black, Jonah Williams/Jordon Johnson-Rubell, Toray Davis/Zelus Hicks were the safety pairings.

– Warren Roberson plays very fast. Its very noticeable.

– Geffrard has lost 25 pounds since arriving on campus.

– Justiss Terry and John Turntine are two who have transformed their bodies. Turntine no longer looks small in the OL group.
