2027 Recruiting Thread

In all fairness, Northwestern offered him a 2-yr NIL deal that was pretty lucrative for a recruit ranked like he is. Texas wasn't going to match that.
It's an interesting situation with Oline recruiting. Arguably the most challenging and important position in CFB.

With NIL and the transfer portal it makes perfect sense for a lineman to sign a big deal out of high school at a none blue blood institution. Particularly if he believes playing time is important for development. If he has a good couple of seasons at Northwestern, then he will be able to transfer to wherever he chooses, make oodles of money, and continue his development.

True. Texas just didn't have him slotted near as high as Northwestern did. A two-year NIL deal is a big deal, too. Texas didn't offer two years. Nobody else did either.

Had Texas thought his ceiling was higher, they would have matched the offer. He certainly has the right frame though.

But you're right. We might see him again in two years.

Northwestern has a smaller budget, less exposure and presumably less current depth, so it makes sense that he would be more valuable to Northwestern, where he is more likely to contribute as an underclassmen.
