Spring Football 2026

He was injured when he got to Austin and remained in rehab for much of his freshman year. Now this.

I think it's come to a time where the young man will have to pick one sport. That should be baseball, IMO. It's taking a toll on his body.
I said the same thing on an earlier thread.... I'd advise him to play baseball. He would be a high draft pick on tools alone.

Hamilton (I think it was) recently said Jonah is a much better prospect in football. This surprised me. If true - he must be James Lott, Troy Polamalu and Stanley Richards (hookem) wrapped up in one!

While Jonah could be drafted next year in baseball, I don't think he's a lock top 100 pick. Yes he has 3 of the 5 needed tools, his hitting tool is still behind. I think it is from a lack of reps more than anything. He just swings at everything and pitchers can easily strike him out with sliders in the dirt. But say he goes in the 5th round that is still close to $500K bonus. But then he will have to spend years in the minors just trying to make it.

If he commits to football and gets drafted as a 5th round safety he will get a $4.7 million contract with over $1 million in year 1. Its a bigger payday in college and nfl for football.

But do what you want! If you pick a sport you don't love then you won't work as hard and not reach your potential.

It may not be a matter of picking the sport he loves best or which pays best....I fear it may be a matter of whether he has a chance of playing either....Bo Jackson was super talented at both at the highest level and ended with neither

Bo Jackson's probably in there behind Earl as one of the best of all time, IMO. I really enjoyed watching him play both sports. It was truly hard to determine which he was best at.

My favorite Bo highlight was when Jerry Gray ran him down from behind! Jerry was probably my favorite all-time Longhorn! Unfortunately I believe Bo broke his collarbone on that play.

Bo and Dion were two of the best athletes I've ever seen! I saw Dion play baseball in Buffalo NY (AAA) and he stretched a pop-up between second base and right field into a double.

Both are humble and grounded. How can you not like those two guys? The throw by Bo from left field to the plate is like video game stuff.

I don't think I'm being biased when I say that Earl was the best RB I've ever seen. I judge that by taking the best... say 4 years of a player's pro career and go by that. Nobody that I've ever seen was better (IMHO).

Walter Payton may be second.

He also has a throw where he catches a fly in shallow left field, and throws out a runner who got too far off of first base. It hit the first baseman right in the chest like a throw from the infield! Crazy arm strength!!

Bo wasn't very kind to bats. The most impressive thing I've ever seen in baseball was him breaking a bat over his head.

I have been blessed to root for some serious honchos when it comes to running backs. Earl, Ricky, Tony Dorsett, Emmitt Smith and Bijan.

I was at that game.

Bijan did what he did at Texas behind a..... let's say not so stellar OL. He was / is greatness! And it apparently translated to the NFL.

Ryan Wingo is expected to return to the field by next week, after rehabbing his wrist after his surgery procedure. FYI.
