IIRC, Flood recruited him and he turned out to not be a standout at this level of football. No one coach can be expected to be 100% perfect on every recruit. If Cruz had any potential to be a starter, this year was his chance to get more than 20 some-odd snaps, that included multiple snaps on special teams
They added that Texas asked Barnes to take a pay cut based on his projected role for 2026.
He was willing to negotiate, but the number ended up being too low for him.

It definitely started that way this year. However, I thought I heard in the bowl game that the o-line hadn't given up a sack in the 3 previous games? If so, that's good progress based on the fact we lost 4 starters from last's years o-line.

Information from IT...I prefer another source. That source lost all credibility after the over-the-top pushing for Herman.
Furthermore, we are making judgements based on one source and not knowing the inside knowledge and strategies.
Paid websites respond to emotional responses and clicks; thus, subscriptions. Think back to spring and summer reports. Those reports didn't reconcile to what happen the field.

Ok, I have had enough. I am officially in the "what in the fuck are we doing camp!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ZERO OL so far yet all of our guys are out the door. Will we have enough OL to field a roster next season? I figured Flood would have gotten the axe before PK which is mind blowing.

And all this talk about pay cuts and reduced roles... it's bullshit. If you are cutting pay and reducing roles, who are you paying and who is playing? Is Cam Coleman worth almost twice as much as a Parker Livingstone and DeAndre Moore? We don't even have Coleman yet and those two are off like prom dresses to other teams. Sark's strategy makes zero sense to me.

Why does it feel like Texas is the one of the only teams trying really hard to play within the NIL rules of engagement and being fiscally responsible? The problem with this is other teams aren't so it's like bringing a knife to a gunfight.
Pay cut? He went from basically being 3rd string this year... How much less could he play?
