2026 PORTAL

The whole thread went south when Billy butt-face Liucci gave his opinion. What a clown.

I wouldn't bet on that. This portal season will be very different than last year's. Lessons were learned. Pocket books have opened.

$1.5 million may not be the final offer, too.

Hamilton thinks we'll pick up about 20 players in the portal.
And thus begins the MLB version of college football. We won't ever be able to count on a player being here for the duration. Multiple year contracts need to begin soon.

According to several sites, an agent close to Florida has said Baugh is entering the portal.
If this happens, get some better interior linemen and the offense is set for next season

They have began! Teams are just very hesitant to give them out. So many busts, injuries, and off the field issues when dealing with 17-22 year old football players. Most schools don't want to be stuck paying even if a kid isn't able to play or play well.

Think of Baxter as an example. 5 star can't miss HS RB who was going to be the heir apparent to Bijan. Has a nice Freshman year, then misses a year for injury, and finally comes back but is clearly not the same. Would you want to have locked in a 4 year $3 million contract for him coming out of HS? Would have been a big waste and really handicapped us.

Good point. I think the Baxter situation you will have to pay for... but off the field issues could be written into the contract I would think. Maybe a buy out for busts and an insurance policy for injuries? Man, I'm starting to hate this stuff!

Multi year has advantages and disadvantages.

Another problem with a multi year deal is if you have a 3 star who becomes a star, they are not going to be happy when their backup is making way more money then they are.

Maybe load in some incentive clauses

Only surprise here is that it took him this long to announce. I guess they were waiting on the new RB coach to interview him and watch his practice tape.

No, Stewart wasn't coming back no matter who we hired. It wasn't his decision to make.
