The Playoff Picture

lol, play Purdue or Northwestern or Rutgers or Wake Forest.
For sure, although 3 years ago Vanderbilt would have been on that list. Past records are an imperfect prediction of future performance. Statistically playing those schools is probably a good strategy for making the playoffs.

BTW, I would add Syracuse to the list of likely easy games.

Right, that's what it says, but we have to use a little common sense here and understand that there's some nuance that youre intentionally leaving out...which is basically that any P4 team, by definition, should fall under the umbrella of this OOC requirement, considering that the language says "OOC from another P4 conferences."

If we beat Oh St in an OOC game, and Oh St goes on to finish at 6-6 come seasons end...is that not considered a high quality OOC team anymore?
I have a hard time believing your current opinion wouldnt change in that scenario. Can't have it both ways.

And my question remains...then whats the cut-off for "high quality" outside of what the language says about the OOC game must be against another P4 opponent? Like DSSL stated above, not all P4 conferences are created equally, so interjecting a subjective meaning to "high quality" is silly. I read the rule as a requirement to just schedule at least 1 P4 OOC opponent, doesnt matter who it is, and thats it.
You're still calling me disingenuous in a different way. Where is there a sentence in the SEC article that you could draw a nuance from? The content on the SEC website was pretty straight forward. I'm done.
Everybody seems to think that some words can be ignored, such as 'high quality'.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, I promise lol.

I think youre reading too much into the "high quality" verbiage, when the language ultimately indicates that each SEC team just has to play a P4 OOC opponent to meet the requirement, and thats it haha.

I read alot of contracts for work. This is just how I'm reading it based on the requirement, because "high quality" becomes extremely subjective with zero context included, and grand scheme I think is really only meant as an identifier of playing P4 teams instead of G5 teams.

🤷‍♂️ agree or disagree, we can move on.

Bama also has the best win of the season and 1 less loss 🤷‍♂️

We failed to secure our playoff spot by losing to Florida. Nothing more, nothing less.

Do I think our resume is worthy of a playoff spot since we played 5 top 15 teams? Absolutely, but we have to control our own destiny and not leave it in the hands of a committee who changes their criteria when its convenient with zero consistency.

I know a lot has been said about Texas getting in or not. I'm watching the Georgia/Alabama game. At first I'm thinking if Alabama loses, Texas gets in. Then I'm thinking Georgia routs Alabama Texas gets in. Then I remember Georgia score against Texas. The committee might compare the games. Sigh.

ESPN is pushing the narrative that Bama is in with a loss. A three loss team getting in after all the pissing and moaning that it shouldn't happen.
I think will get in even if get beat. They come in as #1 in SEC by beating Georgia. Losing to chokelahoma by doubling up on yardage gained.

Looking good regarding the Bama game - though it’s pretty obvious they’ll push ND, Miami, and Bama ahead of us. Still, I’ll hold out hope for OSU blowing Indiana out of the stadium

Based on current state of the SECCCG....Georgia is saving the committee from having to make a decision on the ND-miami debate

Now Bama will be out and both ND and Miami will slide in...**if current results hold**..and Texas is gonna miss the playoffs by 1 spot in the rankings. Damnitttt

Looks that way, but will they really put in a 8-5 Duke team? I know they would be ACC champs, but 8-5. Come on.
