Why would I think so?

1. Better at QB with new potential for deep passing game.

2. Returning 1K rusher plus returning RBs Clark and Baxter.

3. OL is as talented as we've had, and there is depth.

4. TE Endries promises to be as good or better than what we had last year.

5. WR room is deep. We have some speed and experience.

6. Best LB room we've had in a decade or better.

7. Best DE room we've had in quite some time.

8. Deep at DT with stars in the making with Watson and January.

9. Secondary is deep and has experience and speed.

10. Special teams should be the polar opposite of what we had last year. Our punting and kicking game will be assets to us this year.

Thoughts?

Just one small addition. The return game will take a hit.

My main concern is the red zone.. Hopefully they can defend the red zone at all cost. To be honest..I'm glad Arch did see little playing time last year. Now it's time to unleash the beast out of him

How so?
We didn't do much with Golden at KR. 14 returns, avg of 20 yards, returns over 20 yards - 31, 27, 26, 23, and 21 yards.

Bolden handled punt returns. Had the huge return touchdown against Arizona State. On the season had 30 returns and averaged 10 yards. Returns over 20 yards - 75, 55, 35, 26, 24. 3 others >10 yards.

I think some of our best returns got called back due to penalty.

Golden could repeat at KR and easily match or improve his results. Do we go with a safer option at punt return or put one of our more dynamic players back there? Biggest thing will be to reduce penalties on special teams.

Our offense has yet to be elite under Sark. We've been good but limited at times. Can we truly go all gas no brakes with Arch? If so, offense could be better this year.

Our defense was elite last year and has a chance to be even better this year. Perhaps we are improved in some areas (pass rush) and take a step back in others (coverage).

A better offense with a similar defense equals a championship.

We’ve had a better defense than offense the last two years. Our defense is another top 5/10 type defense. Our offense has had some amazing talent the last few years as well but has underperformed relative to expectations in most of the biggest games.

A change to a more mobile QB might just be the difference. Hook ‘em!

One of the more frustrating things with our offense was seeing glimpses of how good it could be but failing to have consistency. We would get bogged down for quarters or halves of games far too often. If we can limit those situations, watch out, because it'll be very hard for any team to score consistently on our defense.

Agree. With that said, I think we should tap the brakes on expectations. Texas has a tough schedule. The media is really pushing Texas as team to beat. Texas has a bullseye on its back. The approach should be: Speak softly and carry a big stick.

In order to win it all, Manning needs to stay healthy. Not that we don't have depth at QB, but we don't have experienced depth.

The Caldwell kid who transferred in has starting experience and is reportedly winning the 2nd string QB job.

63...you are one of my favorite posters but I disagree this time. Not that I think your logic is flawed....It is just that I am proudly Kool aid drink and will expectate as much as I want.....

The guys certainly have a few questions to answer, but it is also nice to see that their are several very good answers possible for this team.

If it comes together, this team will win a lot of games. But like you said, it's gotta happen on Saturdays.

KFord does some great projections and rankings. All very analytic and objective in his approach.

If you dont want to check out the link, He has texas #1 overall, 2 points above #2 ohio state (who is 2 points above #5 Alabama).

He has Texas defense #1.

Offense down at #15. That is probably about where the offense performed last year.

Here is the K Ford sheet for Texas.

Projected 10-2 overall, projected 6-2 or 7-2 in conference. Toughest games Ohio State and Georgia who he ranks #3 and #2 in the country.

I think we'll win it all every year, but that's just me.

1) Thank you.

2) I love the positivity.
FYI: I like our chances. I'm just old school. That is why I posted "Speak softly and carry a big stick." In other words, line up and whip their @ss. 😎

3) Hook 'Em 🤘🏼

Ah, the dog days of summer when analysts analyze too much. Arch went from the best QB to the third or fourth.
Ranking arch is tough.

People who have him #1 are doing so based on potential.

Others may rank him lower because he hasn’t produced on the field yet.

It's all guesswork at this time. You missed my point. All the pundits are looking for fresh takes to get clicks and views in July.
