2026 Recruiting Board/Thread

The below is a good blow by blow of the Ojo announcement from another site. You can see why we won't be taking any call to us he may make.

Still getting caught up from all the fun yesterday. After watching 3 mins of the Ojo announcement ceremony, it’s so unbelievably self-important and narcissistic to watch a guy stand up, put the Texas Longhorn hat on his head, declare he’s going to Texas, the group of friends and family goes wild while the two parents just sit there. Then after 8-10 seconds of fan cheering as Ojo stands with the longhorn hat on his head doing the ‘hook em’, Ojo starts waving his hands and says ‘no, no, no, I’m actually going to Texas Tech, laughs, puts on that tier-2 school hat and unzips his jacket. What a blessing to not have that jacka$$ wearing the burnt orange.

His dad shook his hand after changing his announcement to Tech. Will be interesting to see how he’s doing in 3-4 yrs/.
Taking the money and going to Tech is understandable. But there was no need to do all this. As Bobby Burton noted, he was giving false information to schools recruiting him in the final days.

Take the money, get the bidding war going but lying and making fake commitments doesn't need to be part of that process.

I guess he thought he was being clever.

I'm sure the Texas staff put in allot of time building a relationship with him, and working on a development plan etc. Not very impressive behavior, and this may have burnt any future bridges. But on the other hand Sark, unlike some other coaches, always works on taking rejection positively, and not trashing the relationship. It's hard to imagine, a scenario where he comes back to Texas, but if both parties saw it as advantageous I'm not sure this one jack ass stunt would get in the way.

Thst always gets me. Why bother offering a scholly if you arent going to pursue him ?
If you don't offer up front you probably don't have a shot later on. An offer often encourage guys to visit and allows you to get them on campus to further the evaluation.

Whats going on with WR recruiting ? I know we have one not so highly ranked commit. Have not seen news or rumors of any others.

Well, they have Bishop, Stewart and Brown in the mix right now. My guess is 4 is the limit.

Hard to get 5 star WRs year after year when we are so loaded unless you’re LSU or OSU

One thing I have heard discussed, Texas is unlikely to be throwing out big money deals to players at positions where there will already be a good chunk of change paid out next year.

Wingo, Mosely and potentially Moore all return next year to go along with a guy like Livingstone and a very talented freshmen class brought in last year. That is a lot of your salary cap at WR tied up already.

These camps are not very fair to OL but man, he got beat rep after rep and in different ways. Bull Rush, push-pull, and around the edge. Not a 5 star tackle performance for sure. Gerry Hamilton has also pointed out he was 2nd team all district.

He just isn't there yet. May be a first round tackle in the future if he works to develop his potential but he needs some time.

5 * OL guys do not always pan out. Banks was everything advertised, but some other guys....not so much. Tommy Brockermire did not exacly shine at Bama....or TCU . We have missed on a few at Texas as well. I cannot name them right now due to old age and the trauma of wondering why they never developed. I am beginning to think this kid is never going to make it.

I know probably will get flack o er this nit am disappointed with Flood re ruiting O line. Jerry made very well known that 2026 class was loaded with O linemen. Was to,but we missed Faususi,Rogers,Haygood & seems like another from Bridgeland. We got Coleman brothers Instead. 2026 the instate crop was not as good but supposed we were in on quite national recruits. Flood got Nicolas Robertson definitely not first guard you would want. We got Turntine but think that Sark was involveded.

We took the Coleman brothers relatively early in the process. We didn't take them because we had to or because we missed on others.

Out of the ones you listed, only Faususi really hurt. And there's nothing wrong with what Flood did. OU was on him in the 8th friggin grade. So by the time Flood made his first call, he already had a standing relationship with OU coaches. Bendenbaugh is a pretty decent OL coach, too.

IMO, getting Nick Brooks was way more than enough to compensate for losing Faususi. Brooks is special.

Regarding Jaamarion Carlton out of Temple . . OTF says Baylor has the best offer on the table. I think Tech is right there. Texas' offer is considerably less than Baylor's. One guy said Sam Houston State's offer was more than Texas'.

He'll have to want to be at Texas for this to turn out good for the good guys.
