Much better start today. Goode with the HR to give us a 5-0 lead.

That wasn’t a better start, that was an amazing start. By far the worst inning of Canady’s career. And the 5 run lead was nice but it also became clear that Canady wasn’t going to be able to pitch effectively. Pulled after the inning.

Texas went on to add 5 more runs against the other pitchers Tech used.

I pointed it out on a different board, Canady had never really pitched 3 games in a row that included so many innings. Many assumed she could pull it off effectively but it was still too much physically.

So would you say this experiment with a 1 million dollar player failed? She got you to the championship, but could get you the championship...in a non revenue sport, with a school not so relevant outside of Texas. I really don't understand why they did it.

I would not call it a failure at all. Just the exposure alone was worth it. I’m willing to bet 50% of the schools in the country would put a million dollars on the table immediately if they were guaranteed to be in the title game. They just need to add a player and pitcher around her and they’ve improved. Besides, you really think it’s the schools money?
Congrats to them for making it to the finals and Hook Em ladies for allowing us to light the Tower!

Agree. Besides, she didn’t score all those runs by herself. Those Tech hitters were scrappy and put the ball in play the majority of the time. The exposure Tech received from this season was worth the $1.2M they spent, no matter whose money it was.

Canada had thrown 686 consecutive pitches dating to the start of super regionals before exiting last night:s game. TT NIL paid her 7 figures and TT coach rode her, even though she had a leg injury. That wreaks of desperation trying to be relevant. See aggy and Jimbo.

People above noting the exposure Tech got this season . . . any recruit still has to go to Lubbock for a visit before signing. That can be a traumatic experience.
