2024-2025 Transfer Portal Thread

Hank South has CB'd Endries to Texas.
Like this if it happens, but I'm also a little disappointed because I was hoping Shannon would break out this year. I guess he still can, but this says to me the staff wants an upgrade or experience....which I'm all for.

Also heard Texas was the frontrunner for the Texas State kicker...Shipley, I think

This is big news

Is there anyone else they are looking at as far as transfer players are concerned?

It tells me that the staff maybe knows of a TE on campus planning on portaling out.
But then again, my wife tells me I don't hear what she tells me.

Wild stat, which Texas player leads the team in returning receptions at TE? That would be Malik Agbo who secured 1 catch against Washington last year.

Texas probably wants 2-3 TEs they can count on. Running a lot of 12 personnel means you need several dependable bodies at that position.

A take like Endries from the portal automatically gives you one of those players. Then you still need 1-2 out of Jordan Washington, Spencer Shannon, Emaree Winston or Nick Townsend to come through. The 1st two have some experience in the program but not much on the field experience. Washington is coming back from injury. The 2nd two are true freshmen.

I think this portal take is more about setting the floor at a position without any experienced depth. We would be able to much more easily handle an injury or two, or a slower than expected or desired development curve.

I don't think thats it. I think the injury to Washington, which put us a player away from considering a walk on, caused an urgency in getting a TE with experience.

Washington has been injured. The 6'7 kid has been getting most of the reps. Emaree WInston has had some action. And Townsend will arrive in summer. We simply need an additional productive player there.

I don't know whats up with Will Randall, but I literally never hear his name.
