Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-Recruiting)

Unfortunately Eastex, Akina decided to become the DC at Arizona. We hired Gay as analyst as a result.
What do Duane Akina and Bobby Jack Wright have in common?

They were both outstanding DB coaches for the Longhorns, who got a shot at DC - and we all sat by as the wheels flew off like a NASCAR collision.

I was recalling the same thing.

IT mentioned this morning they'd be surprised if the new DL coach is not Rod Wright.

With the Houston Texans eliminated from the playoffs, you'd think that announcement happens this week.

So… Rod is replacing Jacques… or Jacques is coming to Texas?

Who knows at this point.? I can't recall his name, but lots of folks are talking about the Lions' DT coach right now.

I liked Roach from Bama. But he's said he won't leave Bama unless he has to. He's a Bama grad.

Bobby Burton mentioned the DL coach for the Seattle Seahawks this morning.

Wright may be getting a promotion.

Not saying Casaire is coming to Texas, but here's some info on him:

From Channel 2 in Houston:
HOUSTON – Defensive line coach Jacques Cesaire’s contract has expired and he will not be returning for next season.

The Texans set a franchise record with 46 sacks this past season as they won the AFC South championship and a wild-card playoff game.

Cesaire coached Pro Bowl alternate defensive end Jonathan Greenard as he recorded a career-high 12 1/2 sacks.

Now, Cesaire, a former NFL defensive lineman, is moving on.

“We did some great things over there,” Cesaire told KPRC 2. “Got nothing but love for those guys. It’s all good.”
