Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-Recruiting)

From what I read today, it sounds like they've told him they like other guys more at CB going forward.

He either doesn't want to play safety and/or wants to take his shot at the NFL.
I can live with that. Between OTF and you I hadn't heard that yet.

I have been expecting JT to be that match up nightmare I had been reading about...and it never came to be....I do not know if I will be able to tell if he is here or not

I thought several times this season Sanders was a matchup nightmare to teams we played. With Mitchell and Worthy on the field, he wasn't always the #1 target.

If Mitchell comes back, he would be the #1 target and could put up a massive year. Maybe that's what he's thinking about. Also, his personal situation may be a reason to stay close to home for another year.

Sanders could benefit from another year. His blocking skills are not NFL-ready from what I see sometimes.

If you recall, after the B12 Championship game, one of the players tweeted that we'd be surprised by some of the guys planning to come back.

I think this is a positive from NIL. While JT is ranked the 2nd best TE in this year's draft, already having money in your pocket along with a legit chance to win a NC will influence these kids to return. Next year, JT is probably the #1 TE in the nation. QE improves is draft stock with much less crowded qb draft prospects as well...

I thought he was. There are several highlights this year with him running loose in between the secondary and the backers.

Taking nothing away from Worthy as he was / is a dynamic WR with the ball in his hands, but he left a lot out there on the field. I've re watched a couple of games and Worthy was not very good at contested balls or adjusting to the ball in flight. Get the ball in his hands in space and he was awesome, but rarely did I observe him making an adjustment to the ball. I thought he could've had even more TDs and deep balls had he adjusted correctly. I think there was a reason why Mitchell was the go to in tight spaces.

Like I said, taking nothing away from him because the Horns were better with him in the lineup, but hopefully Cook, Wingo, Golden and Moore will be able to make those tough catches.

Here's a cool stat. 20+ yard plays.
Brooks - 14
Xavier - 14
J.T. - 12
AD Mitchell - 11
J Whitt - 9
Gunnar Helm - 4
C J Baxter - 4
QE3 - 3
Johntay - 2
Blue - 2
Red, Wisner and KRob - 1

But then again look at what we are loosing.

Page 34. JT at the top of all of Texas TE records. In 3 years he is right with or has passed David Thomas. If JT returns, he will own all the records (except TDs) by a long shot.

He has 3 of the 9 100 yard receiving games by a TE in Texas History - all came this past season.

Exactly my thoughts on worthy.
