On a cruise I met this guy..When he found out I was from Texas, he said he was from Bama. He then went on to say coach Sark was thought of in Alabama as the best coach out there not named Saban. He said Sark was their choice to replace Saban when he retired. He said Dabo and Smart were not even considered.

Just something to think about...

My father in law was a Bama alum and a donor. He said it was Dabo 100% a few years ago. He has since passed.

Think Sark has coached 4 good games @Texas,2 Bama games, okie last yr,Iowa State this year. Not shown is good in game manager consistently. He had one job @Bama and HC was not it. Texas is different animal. We shall all see in about 5 yrs

10-1 and possible CFP in his 3rd year. He recruits extremely well. I like his drive to succeed and you can see it when we beat Iowa St. He was pumped and the players see it as well. he shows passion when needed but also classy when needed.

Hes not perfect with all play calls but you cant really argue with the results. Future looks bright. I havent been this fired up about our program in a very long time!

Speaking of his drive and being fired up

Time for a $100mil guaranteed extension? Oh wait…..

Unfortunately this seems like it's becoming typical, and given the apparent state of the program he can likely mostly get what he wants.

I would hope they give him like a 5 year deal, maybe more per year if needed, with additional incentives.

I don't believe he would coast with a long guaranteed deal, but on the other hand the future is hard to predict.

I discussed that with bama guy....he agreed bama could in no way match UT $$$
Maybe I do have a little bias in me, but I've always told people that the Texas Longhorns football head coach is a destination job and not a passing through one. People don't leave Texas on their own for another job (at least in college football) LR proved to everyone that isn't the case at OU.

Sark is a good coach. Recruits well time will tell if he is what Texas needs for long run.

Yes 10-1 tgis year but I haven't forgot fiirst two. A lot of teams problems still have not been solved defense red zone and short yardage off. Next year will tell a lot and depends on who leaves and who returns.

All in all, there is nobody out there not named Saban that I would rather have. Sark is far from perfect but I love his honesty, professionalism, and passion. He continues to grow and develop as a head coach. If you think about it, he does not have a lot of head coaching experience. He’s seems humble enough to learn from mistakes. I think he’s very aware of the great opportunity The University of Texas has given him and doesn’t take that lightly. Most importantly, I love how he treats the players as men. Too many coaches try to manipulate their players and use them as a commodity. He’s genuine with his players and it shows in how they feel about him.
There will be bumps in the road for sure, but I am rooting for him.
Hook ‘Em!!

You gotta use some punctuation my man. Commas, periods, something.

"Defense, red zone and short yardage off." The way you wrote it makes it seem like you think defensive red zone is a problem. I know what you meant but it is very confusing.

There aren't many problems on defense at this point. We are number 1 in the conference for a reason. Some better edge rush and ability to play tighter DB coverage are the next steps to become elite.

Red zone and short yardage offense seems to come down to our o-line not being a great run blocking unit in terms of displacing defensive players. The schemes work well in space when everything is spread out but less so when the field condenses.

We are seeing right now.

From 5-7 and a no-talent team, to 10-1 with Bama left in the path of destruction.

You can't argue with that although you certainly tried.

Okie last year was nothing more than a Christmas present. Their starting QB was out and their backup's goal was to get the snap from the center each play. Lewisville High could have beat ou that day.

Typical buy outs at major schools is more like 50 million at this point. Not many people are putting 100 million handcuffs on themselves outside of aggy. Kirby Smart has the highest right now at 92 million. Makes sense given his recent success and the fact that he has job security in spades right now. UGA would have to fall off the map for 3 years in a row and by then the buy out would be much lower.

The other thing aggy did was not include an offset if Jimbo takes a new job. Many of these coaches buy outs end up being much less when they get hired on elsewhere.

Sark has earned himself a nice raise and some more years on his contract. I also feel pretty confident CDC won't be signing off on any deal similar to Jimbos

I think he is improving in terms of game management this year. Last year he often kept the offense going fast no matter the circumstance. When the offense would fail fast, the other team got the ball and went right down and scored on our tired defense.

A few times this year he has been deliberate about running the ball with leads, running clock and allowing the defense a chance to rest. Iowa state was a great example of this. I think the FG drive that put the lead to 10 took about 6 minutes off the clock. He also made a good choice to kick the FG to go up two possessions instead of going for it on 4th down. The defense got a stop and then he was able to drain the clock to 0 with the run game once again.

Jimbo can earn more sitting on his couch than he would taking another job, IMO. Nobody would pay him what aggy is paying him.

$11M a year for no work. And then whatever else you can get with no set off. If he takes another job for $2 to 3M a year he can be the highest paid coach for a while.

Texas BOR will never approve that kind of extension and to be honest I dont think CDC would offer it, instead he would go with an incentive laden contract
