what are we going to do next year with the running firm of Brooks,Baxter and Blue, run the wishbone LOL
Remember when we were trouncing zero u with rattler at qb and then Riley brought in Caleb Jones ?I agree that we should get Arch some reps if we have a good lead but if we come out flat and need a jolt, I think I would definitely try him in that scenario.
Arch can get playing time without burning his redshirt. It would be nice if we have the ability to let him get some snaps.I think it's really important to protect Manning's redshirt if at all possible. Only a true emergency should be reason to burn it. The Mannings seem to be unique in that creating a legacy and developing toward excellence for the long run are more important than getting to the league ASAP. I won't be surprised at all if Manning stays here for five years and wins a NC or two.
Sure, getting Arch some meaningful snaps in up to four games would be great. As it stands, there could be anywhere from five to seven games remaining on the schedule so at this stage they should be meaningful snaps.Arch can get playing time without burning his redshirt. Maalik played like a guy who's been taking 2nd team snaps. Made some horrible throws and his footwork looked like that of a newborn calf at times. However, he has a cannon and he showed moxy and good pocket presence. This was the perfect game for him to knock off some rust and get some comfort leading the team. Quick turn around for this week. I'm confident that he will learn quickly and lead the offense effectively.
Now, Sark needs to get rid of the red zone yips. Quit overthinking it and ram that ball down their throat. This game will be challenging, but we're better and we're at home. This game could have a similar effect to the Bama game. Win and the playoff picture gets clearer.
Exactly. Had he played Saturday, them Murphy gets injured and Ewers doesn’t come back, you play manning past his 4 games or roll with whoever is 4th.Sure, getting Arch some meaningful snaps in up to four games would be great. Arch is here for 3 years redshirt or not. No need to treat him like a porcelain doll. Yes, you're careful, but he needs time on the playing field. Arch being a Senior at Texas is possible, but not likely. He's at Texas to get the best possible development path to the NFL. A national championship would be nice, but not the goal.Exactly. After watching all of his throws:
I think he executed the short game very successfully. Not to be taken for granted at this level but he hit the WRs and RBs at the LOS with passes with very good accuracy, leading them down the field to quickly start picking up yards.
His intermediate game was more of a mixed bag, some great throws (think the RPOs to Mitchell) but a few balls that were a bit off target.
His deep balls (and some other passes) were poorly timed and/or underthrown. Some were completed after great plays on the ball by the WRs/TEs and some weren't. Development helps him hit these balls on time or with proper depth on the throw but I am not sure we get that type of growth in 1 week.
Sark said the INT was also due to the WR running the wrong route. I do think it is at least partially on MM because that was an ill advised pass off his back foot with no juice on it.
I don't put much blame on MM for the fumble. Brooks and Conner (pulling to the right from his LG spot) were supposed to double the edge and Brooks allowed him to get to the outside. MM perhaps could feel that pressure but hard to do on that play as he is turning around to throw the screen to X. Bad execution and perhaps too complex of a play call in that situation.
Overall he made good decisions and mostly threw good balls. About what you'd expect at this stage for him. If he can improve marginally over the next few weeks the offense should be able to find a decent amount of success.
If Malik gets hurt we will sure wish Arch would have played.I give Murphy a B-. Good for a first game but tons to improve. Several footwork issues and was late a few times on balls that could've been picked. KSU will capitalize on those.
As far as Arch, sure I think he could've played the last drive but I understand not playing him to give Maalik more snaps. He clearly needs more experience from watching. Arch and is family are playing the long game. They know this year is purely an adjustment and learning year. Everything is still going to plan.
Sure. But we know Maalik is going to play against a 10x better team this week. He needs every bit of game time he could get.If Malik gets hurt we will sure wish Arch would have played.
So one drive makes the difference? If Malik gets hurt we will sure wish Arch would have played.
10x better? Really?Sure. But we know Maalik is going to play against a 10x better team this week. He needs every bit of game time he could get.
