SIR, as you know been trying to get my yard repaired.  Side yard inside fence was inundated with a variety of weeds because lawn care super was lazy.  Also knew I had drainage issue.

It was a relatively small job for big guys with building boom still happening.  Think I got one of them & for a really good price because water restrictions all around us-but not here.

They completed job on Thursday, precisely one week after we started back to school!  I am watering 2x day (sod), ugh, with sprinklers because HOA controls irrigation-ouch!  One of them is before at leave for work. So, get up at 4am to do it!

Luckily, we don’t have water restrictions, yet!  Also had a few drainage problems resolved.

Longhorns love good grass! (See, it’s related!)

Wish me luck!!

Hook ‘em!
The side yard will always be a challenge. They sit between two structures plus a fence so sunlight is normally limited there. What we commonly do is strip the area of grass, lay down weed cloth, and put in about three inches of 1"-2" native river rock. Its small enough and flat enough that you can walk on it barefoot, but heavy enough that you can take a blower to it and not lose your rock.

You really don't have to water twice a day. Just water once, at 11 p.m. each day until the sod becomes established. If you have spray heads, run those at 20 minutes. If you have rotors, run those at 45 mins.

Grass is like most plants. They like to dry out some before they get wet again.

Good luck!

Have your mowing crew carve out a Bevo in your front yard using their mower. :)   I taught my guys how to do that a long time ago. lol

Funny!  I have a corner lot, so my side yard is getting lots of sun. One of the landscape plants is a desert plant in the side yard, and the sun has turned the berries black. They look burned.

I’m not going to keep watering 2 x day. In the morning, I just give it a sprinkle. At night, I drench for 20-30 minutes.  It’s perking up.

I was going to stop the morning watering on Wednesday.
