*****GAME THREAD: 2-Seed Texas Longhorns vs. 3-Seed Xavier Musketeers*****

What a great effort without Disu. Congrats to the guys and let’s keep it going!
Pretty crazy to lose a player like him and not even notice his absence.

BTW, without Disu we had to guard a 7 footer with Christian Bishop and Brock Cunningham, He was 6-19 with 15 points and 11 rbds. Kept him in check

The difference in the game today came down to shooting percentage. The teams essentially shot the same number of shots when taking into account shooting fouls. Both made 7 3 pointers (Texas on 5 less shots), but we made 4 more free throws and 4 more 2pt FGs for the 12 point final advantage.

Our defense made it hard on them to score the 3 ball and bothered them enough down low that they missed a lot of shots down close. On offense, Texas had one of their best shooting nights 58% from 3 and 52% overall.

One of our best defensive efforts on the year. Lots of caused TOs and timely, too.

Our physicality, IMO, was the difference in this game. We beat them up early and they were never the same, getting outright vocal in their frustration at times. We were all over them and it took them out of their game.

Xavier's defense was laughable.

My game balls go to Tyrese Hunter and Marcus Carr. We were short on Disu's production so Hunter stepped up to fill the void in a big way. Hunter was also excellent defensively. Carr didn't shoot that great but did make some timely shots. His defense was suffocating at times. Rice did a good number on their top scorer, got him upset even. lol

Miami is a much better team than they were just a month ago. They are playing confident. If we continue to set the tone early, we might take'em

Only issue I had was the less than impressive ft shooting. It could have easily been a bigger blowout. Hopefully we will be sharper in that area against Miami. Overall though, really impressive performance by the coaches and players.

i’d add Bishop to the game ball list. He didn’t score as much as some others but he made it nearly impossible for the Xaxier big man to patrol the paint and disrupt our guards. That gave them lots of room to operate.

Do not sleep on Miami. They were underseeded and that loss to Duke in the ACC tournament woke them up. If we keep doing what we're doing, we'll be ok. Miami has more guards than Shawshank and can score in bunches. The game will be very interesting and close.

Hope Disu can contribute some, but the initial report I heard was that it was unlikely that he would play.

if Miami has a game like they played vs Huston no one can beat them.

Props to Bishop came in and did very good On the refs. called a good first half. Must have spent half time with Xavier.

Props to Terry for having heated coinversations with refs.Horns played the game to win drives and pull up jumpers.. Missedto many layups second half. But vs Xavier did not matter If Xavier did not have a off game, then how did they everget sofar in tourny?

That blonde kid for Xavier has a nasty temper.
Players for both teams last night played with an edge. Personally, I liked seeing Texas have some fight in them and give it back.

This is one of my favorite Texas basketball teams I’ve ever watched. They seem to have fun, play with an edge… and effort is never ever an issue.

I count at least 4 players on this team that actually want the ball in their hands during crunch time. That is a pretty rare commodity.

I agree… At one point “that blonde kid” did let it get the best of him. But that’s the type of player you love, if he’s on your team. I enjoyed the exchanges between he and Sir J. Rice.

They slapped or elbowed us in the face, we did the same right back.  Literally.  80s/90s bball!  Gotta love it.
