Texas mid week games against Sam Houston (tuesday) Mercer(Wednesday)

LBJ is starting the Tuesday night game against Sam Houston

I’m excited about LBJ. If he can keep getting better, he has the stuff to be special. 
 

I hope Pierce experiments a little with the line up over the next 14 home games. Gotta find some more offense. Way too many guys hitting below.250, and even under .200.  This team is not going to hit a lot of home runs so they better find some guys to get on base and create. 
If they struggle with these 14 “softer” games in the schedule, could be a long year. Likewise, it’s a great chance to get some momentum.

Thru 3 innings it's 3-2 Sam Houston. Both starters labored through the 3rd inning.  There are a few new faces playing in the game.

LBJ has gone 6 complete innings. Throwing around 90 pitches, 60 were strikes, 2ER and 2 unearned runs.  Giving up 7 hits.

Good 4 spot in the 6th for the Horns.

In the bottom of the 6th, Texas sends 9 batters to the plate gets 4 runs in and takes a 6-4 lead into the final 3 innings.

Gave back a run in the top of the 7th, but did get a DP to end the inning. 6-5 Texas

Texas wins 7-5. Hurley gets the save after going the final 3 innings of the game.

Looks like they have found a third baseman in Powell. Need to find a first baseman now.

I do like Powell and he has definitely shown that he delivers to be the 3rd basemen.  I also like Thomas and Cam Constantine at 1st basemen, but some of the throws haven't helpede either of them. 

I would love to see if Ace Whitehead can play in the outfield and bench Dylan Cambell for a game or 2 to see if there is a batter at bat from Whitehead. 

Daly did redeem himself in the game on Tuesday. But need better execution on the shortstop play defensively by both Daly and Jaylen D.

I'm curious as to who is pitching on Wednesday night.

Ace Whitehead is the starter for tonight's game against Mercer.

Texas has scored in all 4 innings including 4 runs in each of the 2nd and 3rd innings. Texas leads 10-0 in the top of the 5th inning.

Texas wins 11-3. Texas made it more difficult in the top of the 9th by hitting 2 batters and walking 2 others.

Maybe the 2nd time the batters did a real good job at the plate making the opponent's pitcher having to work. We had 15 hits. Got 9 runs after having 2 outs in an inning

These are 2 decent midweek wins vs good mid majors. Have 9 more games to get these guys some confidence. Need to go absolutely no worse than 7-2 during this stretch.

Two wins that were supposed to happen.  You’ve gotta win those first and foremost.  I want to see the few mistakes cleaned up.  I think Pearce will figure out the pitching staff in time.  There’s some really good arms there.

For some context. It is early in a college baseball season and anyone can lose to anyone, especially at this point and especially with a young team.

Texas has shown some good signs and also some issues. It'll be interesting to see how things shake out this season.
