Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-Recruiting)

Jackson can coach, develop and control the room. Seems like Marion had trouble in that regard.

If the WRs produce in the field, go to the league and NIL continues to go well for Texas, a potato could recruits WRs.

I feel terrible for Ossai. He played a terrific game. Then, momentum carried him out of bounds.

What an amazing competitor.

Hook ‘em!
Looks like he almost destroyed his knee/ankle on the play too, looked like he was okay though. Woulda been insult on top of injury for sure.

I am a christian and understand the biblical view point of homosexuality as immoral. However, I do not expect non-christians to have the same belief. Some things are immoral for all people, murder for example, but for some it is not quite that clear cut.

We would have to ban a whole lot of things at basketball games if we adhered to every major religions views of immorality. No hot dogs, no alcohol, no caffeine products, men must cover their heads, women must cover their faces.
That is why at the end of the day we just come to grips with reality and recognize there is just one objective truth, not everybody’s subject “my truths”

“Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
‭‭John‬ ‭14‬:‭6‬ ‭

UT did the promotion including alternative uniforms give aways to the students. It was an in your face event.

Little different than “Hey, I noticed the concession stand is now selling beer.”

Thank you @UT1983. My response would not have been as measured as yours.
Feel free to reply in a direct message if you wanted to further the discussion. I'm happy to discuss further without clogging up the message board discussing a very nuanced topic.

DES  Finkley and Sorrell backed up by Burke and Tapp.

LB looks to be weakest position.
Agree, only because Texas doesnt have a true #2 or #3 SDE after Sorrell THIS year. Burke, Tapp, & Vasek have the body types to turn into SDE but this year they just dont have enough weight/strength at that position - yet. This COULD change by Sept but I doubt it; it's just hard to put on 20 lbs of good weight in such a short period of time.  A SDE needs to be around 260-280 to be an effective SDE.

Sorrell (Jr): 6'4 260 - effective but could use more good weight

Finkley (So): 6'2 248 - ideal for WDE; needs 10-15 lbs of good weight for SDE

Burke (So): 6'6 245 - good frame to put on good weight for effective SDE; maybe next year

Tapp (So): 6'3 241 - Actually lost weight since HS; that might not be a bad thing to tear down then build up

The ones that have the body frames to become ideal SDEs: Sorrell, Burk, Tapp,  Except for Sorrell, all the rest are WDE size right now. Akana & Walton are LB size right now.

DT starters should be Sweat and Murphy. Back up by Collins, Broughton and Ross.
The players that are NT size are Sweat (6'4 346) and Mitchell (6'5 335).  I like Murphy because he's tough and he's called on to take on heavier double teams but the reality is he's DT size right now (using roster numbers)

DT size: Collins, Bryant, & Broughton (probably portals or quits if jumped over in depth chart)

Possible position moves to SDE (where there is a shortage) Bledsoe (6'4 260), Swanson (6'4 257), & Ross (6'2 263). Bledsoe is considered the most athletic of these three, and whom might translate to SDE better than the other two. All three of these guys are a couple of years away from playing interior line, IMO

Speaking of improvement, read some where there should be three improvements on offence next yeay QB and WR play and play calling.
I would LOVE to see Sark hire another  special assistant like Patterson but on offense; not to coach but to call plays in the booth so Sark can concentrate on whole game management.

One guy that has had a disappointing career in Austin is Collins. I watched him singlehandedly dismantle my Billies. But as I think about it I wonder if the coaches aren't to blame? Between the Herman and Sark regimes, hasn't he changed positions about three times?

agree. so far Collins has been a huge disappointment. When he was recruited as a high 4 star (4*/97), I thought he would be then next DL big thing.

I have to respectfully disagree....he clearly pushed him when he was out of bounds....it was a good call by the refs...in this day and age, he just has to learn to not do that...but football is turning into flag football these days....

I felt really bad for him because he made a mistake in the wrong point in the game...it's sad....but Cincy had every chance to win that game and they didn't....the loss wasn't his fault...
