Directors Cup Thread

Seems that both basketball teams have stabilized things after looking to be on shaky ground several weeks back.

The men's team earned a tough victory in Norman and seem relatively unaffected by being without their head coach.

The women's team got off to a rocky start without star Rori Harmon (think female TJ ford) to start the year after a lower leg injury. They have been on a roll after she has gotten back into the swing of things. They did lose Aaliyah Moore to an ACL injury but they have had other players step up in her absence. They beat a not terrible k-state team 87-41.

Quick run down of what is setting up to be another big Spring for Texas.

This doesn't include baseball, that is currently just outside of the top 25 and rowing who will almost certainly ranked #1 once their season starts. Also, Outdoor track and field teams will likely have similar rankings when the time comes, track and field really isn't very different indoor vs outdoor.

I also would not be surprised to see Men's track and field jump ip in the rankings - these rankings are based on actual results in meets and that data is a bit limited this early in the season.

Men's Golf ranking was based on last fall's performance. That was before they added Christian Maas, a south african phenom who is an incoming freshmen and an all american golfer from Oklahoma State.

Women's basketball will also join the top 25 after being just outside of the top 25 before beating both OU and Ok State this week. They are currently tied for the Big 12 conference lead.

Everything is going according to plan! Just need to close the deal!

Women's hoops did get ranked, at #24. They followed that up with another win tonight over WV. They sit alone on top of the big12 standings with Iowa State dropping a game today. They started 3-4 (with Rori Harmon hurt) and have been 14-2 since then.

Men's track did jump into the top 10, up to #8 after the distance runners competed this weekend. Look for another jump after they compete in a full meet this weekend in New Mexico.

Look for #18 Men's Golf to make a move in the rankings. They won the Southwestern Invitational, beating host #14 Pepperdine by 13 strokes and besting 3rd place #4 Arizona state by 18 strokes. Surprisingly, the low scores for Texas came from their 3 stud freshmen, including Jacob Sosa who set a Texas record by shooting a 61 in round 1. Top 10 ranked Brian Stark and Travis Vick didn't factor into the scoring much due to the success of the freshmen. Imagine what this team could do if the freshmen continue to play well and the two stud seniors play like they are capable!

Golf team is going to be just fine this year... Should only get better all spring.
