Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-Recruiting)

Do not remember Royal as stuborn he might have been. Do remember he would take players out of ame if not preforming.
"When you throw the ball three things can happen and two of them are bad". Remember that one

Yes, but how did he beat Navy in the 1964 Cotton Bowl and Arkansas in (1969) the Game if the Century? Both games led to national championships.  James Street passed late in the game against Notre Dame in Cotton Bowl to rally Texas to win.  ?

PS - He used a pass against Arkansas for 2 point conversion in 1964. Marvin Kristynik threw the worst pass of his career to a wide open back in the end zone. Royal went for the win as a tie would drop them from #1. Arkansas won 14-13.

You're right, but he would still stick to his believes while explaining why he called a pass.

I was not impressed with the touches I saw from him during the season so am not surprised if he didn't see the field. The two best RBs who got carries were the ones who deserved it from what I could see. With the high potential recruits coming in, the writing may be on the wall for Blue.

Prolly pissed that he didn't get any touches in the bowl game.

IMO, the RB rotation was not handled well.
True.  Maybe he did or didn't do something in practice to earn the reps.  We have no clue why he didn't get touches.  Could've been a discipline thing for all we know.

Regardless, if he does enter the portal then Texas needs to find a RB in the portal.  I envision Wisner as a slot.  Can't go into the season with only 3 backs.

3 things can happen 2 bad.Yes I remember this and many others.

Actually 4 things can happen there is pass interference which is good

I like that quote.

When I hear Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit announcing a game or read some (very speculative) posts I think of this quote by Darrell Royal and smile:

You're what-iffing now and everybody can what-if."

?

Edit: I also have to include I thought of the above quote anytime Johnny D posted ANYTHING.  ?

to me what I remember is not Randy Peschel making a spectacular catch and forever cementing his legacy in Longhorn history.....but a damn cheerleader doing cartwheels on the field after the play

Wisner is KRob 2.0. We will be okay.

I remember that day well. My old man had a few too many beers and got totally pissed and turned the game off and went to bed. I turned the game back on in time to witness the comeback. We lived in Austin at the time. When the game was over I went outside and you could hear people honking their car horns all over town.

Hook'em!

The writing is on the wall with Blue. His first mistake was sitting out his senior year of HS.
I always thought him sitting out his senior year was an indicator that he's not a team guy. What's great about football is that it's the epitome of team sports, and those who excel as individuals also tend to understand that their success is dependent on the other 10 guys on the field. If he decides to leave, I wish him well.
