ou may not be so anxious to go to the SEC now anyway.

Why would UT and OU be so dumb to announce years ago a move to the SEC where THE TV RIGHTS aren't even settled?

That's the most basic 1st thing. They look like big mouth amateurs now.

That's like proposing to get married, and then saying you'll agree on a date 4-5 years later.

But they get the benefit of hype and recruiting as if they are in the SEC now haha

They announced a move in 2025. That had already been settled and is still settled. What they announced is still accurate.

Now they were trying to go back and settle for a year early but it is looking like that won't happen.

Lots of rumors that aggy leaked that TX and 0u were looking to join the SEC in an attempt scuttle things. I think it would have been difficult to keep it a secret for any amount of time.

It may have benefitted Texas,0u and the SEC to have it publicly known.

When they announced they said 2025, and hoped they could negotiate an earlier exit. Clearly there has been negotiations,  but they have not been able to reach a deal that everyone involved could agree on.

RECRUITING...I think both UT and OU are sick and tired of the SEC schools poaching all the talent here in the state, they may be late to the party but too many Texas kids are going to SEC schools, because its the"cool " destination of choice and I think they are getting tired of being the breadwinner for the conference

ou ain’t in the state.

After watching the game a second time, I've heard a lot of people complain about our secondary in the Iowa St game. I agree, but you have to admit that the Iowa St receivers made some ridiculous catches. It started in the first quarter and persisted throughout the game.

For all you Sark haters...last year the howling was loud...the D was a complete mess. The O Line might have been worse. Our QB situation was a joke.

Then...recruiting went super well. In spite of all fears, we discovered that perhaps our coaches might know something after all....

The turn around in the O Line has been astonishing.(who would have thought a talent infusion would make smarter coaches?) Even the defense is improving.

We are not back, but we at least know the way home.

And thus, the book is closed on a quarter-century Big 12 relationship with Texas and Oklahoma. In fact, the conference might not have existed in the first place had former Longhorns AD DeLoss Dodds and former Sooners AD Donnie Duncan not had the idea to travel to New York in the early 1990s.

It was there the two AD power brokers pitched to advertisers the idea of a conference in the middle of the country that would reach from Iowa to Texas. At the time, Chevrolet was a major college football advertiser. Dodds made the comment that, in that footprint, "Chevy could sell a lot of pickups."

I understand the legalities of a contract, exactly why all of this hype is coming from back channels. Fox isn't letting UT and OU out of anything. No sports league is doing much of anything without a Network air TV, Cable, streaming, Youtube and copyrights, advertisers etc. all on contract.

"Big 12

After losing Oklahoma and Texas in 2025, the conference will likely take a hit in their television deal that ends in the same year. The Big 12 currently is set up very similarly to the Big Ten with broadcast rights going to FOX and ESPN. The current deal started in 2015 and was for $2 billion. Expectations are not going to be as high once the powerhouses depart.

SEC

The SEC is the main reason ESPN was okay parting ways with the Big Ten. Starting in 2024, ESPN will be the exclusive carrier for SEC football and men’s basketball. CBS was desperate to fill the void, and it appears the Big Ten will fill that.

Many are concerned ESPN has too much power over college football, as nearly every conference has ties to the network. Many have feared the monopoly ESPN has hurts those who are not associated with it, and that may even dip into the rankings for the College Football Playoff."

If you set the bar low enough (5-7) it's easy to be the most improved and still be average. This season is far from over, with some major goals still ahead of us and attainable. We still lack an away win and beating a ranked team this year.

We've got likely 10 players that will play on Sunday next year. A rebuilding year is not acceptable regardless of last year. UT fans may be willing to settle for 8-9 wins, but that is not the goal. A Big 12 title is.
