***Texas vs Texas State-Tuesday/Wednsday Game Thread***

Horns add one as a 2-out single from Melendez plates Daly from 2B.  Kennedy makes a baserunning error and gets caught in no-man's land between 3B & home to end it

Horns up 3-0 thru 2

I am sorry if I missed it but what's the latest on Todd? Season ending?
Nothing definitive yet.  Just that he's sore, dislocated shoulder.  Will rest it and get checked out.  Could be out for a while.

That was post-game last night.  Nothing further that I've heard.

Horns go to Blair in relief here in T3

T3 has turned into meltdown city for the Horns

They trail 5-3 right now.  Finally got out of the frame.

Horns can't string anything together in B3, still trail 3-5 thru 3

TxSt adds a solo HR in T4

Horns go in order B4 and trail 3-6

Southard works a 1-2-3 frame in T5, Horns trail 3-6

Horns get one back in B5.

Nothing doing for TxSt in T6

Horns trail 4-6 in B6

Horns leave one on 2B in B6

Thru 6, Horns trail 4-6

Nothing doing for either club in the 7th

Horns trail 4-6 headed T8

TxST gets nothing in T8

Horns trail 4-6, headed B8

These last 3 games have featured almost exclusively bullpen arms. That is the one question about this roster this year. We need 3-4 guys to really step up with consistent stuff out of the pen. The weekend starters plus Nixon will likely be able to manage 7 or so innings a game, just need some arms to take care of those other 2 innings a game.

In T9, TxSt strands runners on 1&2, Pierce gets tossed for arguing balls and strikes, and the Horns trail 4-6 headed B9

That's why you're seeing these midweeks with a parade of pen guys.  To get them experience in live games, not scrimmages.  Texas will have a few guys step up, always do.  Sean is just trying to figure out who he can rely on in certain situations and who needs more work in the pen.

Definitely agree. It hasn't been pretty and has been a bit of a let down after such a great start but its been a good opportunity to get some good looks at a lot of arms.

Stehle, Luke Harrison and Lucas Gordon have all had good starts to the year. Some inconsistency at times but overall limiting damage. Dre Duplantier was pretty rocky in his last two appearances.

Texas gets runners on 1&2 with 2 outs in the ninth, but Melendez KL to end it.

Horns fall 4-6
