Still have some other possibilities out there we may also get. This roster may end up great! Beard is showing out thus far

IMO, Beard is refusing to allow next year to be a building season. He won me over right there.

Beard is taking full advantage of UT's resources to obtain top talent. We may be more talented than this past year before he's done.

It would help a lot if Simms would come back. We'd be okay if both Coleman and Ramey left. But we need a big. Simms would have a spectacular season if he were to come back.

All of these new guys are going to have to learn to play with each other in a very short amount of time.

According to 24/7, we currently have the nation's 72nd ranked class for 2022 recruiting. We have one recruit in the class, a 4-star.

I was appalled when I read that until I saw the comparison with last year's class, which was 101st.

Right now we're the 4th best class in the Big 12. Last year, we had the 10th best class in the conference.

With all the transfers, I think that more than makes up for any high school players lost. The only one I really liked was Bates

Come on back, Simms. You guys could win a title with one missing piece – you.

So just waiting on Simms and Brown to decide from last year's team?

It would be nice to have Brown back, but don't count on it. There's another big man that Texas is after, so thats kinda indicative of either Simms or Brown (or both) moving on.

About three weeks ago I was told it was looking good for Simms to stay. Haven't heard a thing since then though.

Top 7 men's basketball coaching hires this offseason

1. Chris Beard, Texas head coach

Former program: Texas Tech (head coach)

Texas fans have a lot to be excited about after Beard was named the head coach on April 1. In five seasons at Texas Tech, Beard led the Red Raiders to four NCAA tournament appearances, two Sweet 16 games and the championship game. In 2019, he was named the AP National Coach of the Year and has an overall record of 252-103. Beard graduated from Texas in 1995 and was a student manager under then-head coach Tom Penders.

Beard got to work right away assembling an army of assistant coaches, including long-term Kansas assistant coach Jerrance Howard, who is responsible for a ton of recruiting wins for the Jayhawks since 2013. Beard also brought along former Texas Tech assistant Ulric Maligi, who was the lead recruiter in landing Tech’s very first McDonald’s All-American, Nimari Burnett. Former UTEP head coach Rodney Terry joined Beard's staff as the associate head coach and previously was an assistant coach at Texas from 2002-2011.

The coaching staff made an early statement in signing two key transfers in Timmy Allen (Utah) and Devin Askew (Kentucky) and have four-star recruit Jaylon Tyson coming in next year.

The day after the national championship game, Beard posted an open letter to the Texas Longhorn nation saying, “This is a Monday Night program. We have work to do to get there, but I’m not afraid to talk about it from day one. That’s the game we’re trying to get to, and everything we do will be about getting us to the level where we can compete for national championships.”

Worth getting excited about, for a change.

There are still several spots to fill yet. I'm curious how those last spots go with the remaining transfers on the market and what Brown and Simms decide. I have no doubt the staff is working their butts off to get the best guys possible.
