Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-Recruiting)

As long as you and your loved ones aren't part of the "close to 0", then I guess it's ok, right?
I mean, you could get hit by a drunk driver, your airplane crash and burn, or an anvil fall out of the sky and hit you in the head too.  Shit happens

We see that risk every single year with the flu. Also, up here we have West Nile Virus. But nobody is forced to use OFF!

So the season looks like it might come off after all.....

....then you get the news that Sam is Practicing with a brace on one knee.....Whats up with that and how come no one is talking about it?
He wore one in practice last year. But he didn't wear one in the games. He will wear one in practice this year, but not wear one in the games.

Was reading a few Ohio State boards they are pissed but are convinced that the Big 12, sec and ACC will eventually cancel as well..
Life is going to suck for them when they have to sit and watch the Big 12, SEC and ACC play ball this season. However, they will have all the time in the world to recruit.

OSU coach – Hey, thought I'd drop by Saturday and visit with you. Would that be okay?

Recruit: "Nah man, don't come by then. I'll be chillin and watching the Texas game." lol

I hate to see Bimage opt out of the season. He could be a force at times and was only going to continue to get better.

Or you could run around shooting your guns outside a police station, drive 100 mph down a residential street, shoot heroin with one hand while smoking crack with the other, drive without a seatbelt, smoke your cigarettes in a bar/restaurant/plane.  Damn, your liberties are being taken away one by one.  What will you do.

There's a vaccine for the seasonal flu.  I'm guessing you have the statistics of the people that die from the flu that were and were not vaccinated.  So if you can post those that would be great.  We can evaluate them.

I hope the season starts and finishes but I am not expecting still at this point. As soon as several teams have outbreaks once the season starts that will be a wrap.

99+% survival rate. Thats pretty damned close to 0.
If you knew for a fact that if you did a specific activity that after doing it you will be in bed for several days feeling like shit and sick as a dog would you still do that activity?

I would not. I know that everyone likes to bring up death rates but for me WHO REALLY WANTS TO FEEL LIKE SHIT FOR A WEEK?  I had it and it was not fun... It was way worse than the flu. Yeah I survived but I damn sure do not want it again..

I will go watch a college football game for starters, unless the crybabies get their way.  Then that liberty will be taken away

Can you guarantee somebody that they will get it at a football game with 25-50% attendance.  So far 1.5% of 330,000,000 have gotten this virus in 5 months.  That’s with masks, socially distancing, etc...  I’m willing to face those extremely  low odds.  If YOU are scared that’s fine, worry about you.  The rest of us willing to live life can take care of ourselves.  I’m not a sheep

LOL! Forde  is roasting Nebraska. They deserve it.

I was listening Pat Forde on the radio yesterday and some things he said were:

He said AD's and coaches are very frustrated and no one is sure on what to do. He said teams can fine doctors who will go along with what they want.

Greg Warren is getting roasted for his decision while in the Pac 12 it's no big deal. If things go bad or the other conferences have to cancel then he will be redeemed, but for now he's looking bad. The feeling is that he should have waited and the other conferences will wait till they have no other choice.

He said lawyers are waiting to pounce to sue schools if things go bad.

He placed the odds of teams playing their first game at 51% we play and 49% we don't. However, he places the odds of playing the whole season at 20% we do and 80% we don't.

What activity DO YOU know for a fact would cause that?

The flu makes you feel very similar. I've had this virus twice now. I have no more fear of it than I do the flu. The flu makes you feel like shit. Chances are, your second experience with it won't be as bad. Mine wasn't.

But yeah, death rates matter. Life and death is a COMPLETELY different subject that "what Mike's preferences in illnesses are."

For example, if we were talking Ebola, which is way worse in symptoms than corona, we'd certainly be talking about death rates instead of what we disliked about it.

Help me out with this lawsuit thing . . . you mean I can file a lawsuit against someone who gave me the flu? I never knew that was possible. I could be rich right now. I'm pretty sure I got it at a UT-Nebraska game a few years back. Where's the Texas Hammer when you need him? lol

This is not the flu. The flu has never shut down the college football season or a partial shutdown.
I didn't say it was. In fact, I used the flu as a comparison so if anything, I distinguished the flu from wuhan. Nevertheless, they're very similar on mortality rate.

You bring up a great point though. Why did corona shut everything down. 99% survival rate and we shut everything down? Being the first time it has ever happened doesn't really mean much when you consider the fact that it should have never happened. H1N1 was deadlier and we shut nothing down.

States were allowed to do their own thing. Take a look around at the who and then you'll likely find your why.

Anyone else surprised to see Isaiah Hookfin listed as the starter at OG? If anything, I thought Tyler Johnson would be the first to play. Hookfin is moved to starter. Wow.

This is why it's more serious than the flu. It's not just deaths. It's also long term damage which can hit anyone no matter if they're young, old, healthy, or unhealthy.

I will use Bijan as an example. I don't want to see a possible all time longhorn great to unnecessarily get covid 19 and ruin his career.

At this point in time I'm not sure it's safe to play or not. I heard Charles Thompson is in favor Casey playing and I have not heard any other parents against it.
