Saw the latest CBS preseason that had Texas at #17.  Seems about right considering all the talent coming back.  One thing that baffles me is OU at #4.  What am i missing here?  Sure they have some talent, but they're starting a young, untested QB, lost their top WR from last year and are still weaker on defense.  How the F does that translate into a #4 ranking?  I could see anywhere from 10-14, but not #4.

Until Texas reestablishes itself as a legitimate title contender, the press has to throw someone besides SEC teams and Clemson in there so the rest of the country will continue to follow. In fairness, OU has been the only real threat from the Big 12 for the better part of the last decade. Living in this part of the country, that is a painful truth to admit.

Texas at 17 baffles me. Best QB in the land returns. Your team goes as your QB play goes. Huge advantage for Texas.

Likewise, it's the same disadvantage OU has. Completely green at QB. Lost their #1 receiving threat. #1 and #2 running threats. OL returns intact but your skill positions are a big question there. Defense continues to be an afterthought for OU recruiting. Slightly better this year so far but still. That defense has run out of the talent that Stoops recruited. 

OU's problem is they get pushed around at the CFP by the Clemson's and Bamas and Ohio State's because they're always small on defense. Now, with Grinch, they want to be smaller and faster. Not a good way to conquer your most glaring problem.

I would see OU at #15 going into the season. Texas maybe at #12.

I think the talent between Texas and OU is about even. Experience at key positions will win the day.

Personaly I like an experenced OL over experenced skill positions.Still belive games are won and loss in the trenches in most cases.

I just read an article on 24/7 that has your guy Sweat tabbed as possibly making it to super star status this year. They said in this new defense he will absolutely flourish. 

I remember you telling us that he was going to be great when he committed.. .while most were pretty cool on him.

It looks like the supposed smart guys are coming around to your thinking. Nice eval on your part.....again.

I came damn near throwing a party when CeeDee Lamb went to the NFL. I can't remember feeling that way about a OL before.

Seems like OU had a better than average  that year. WR cannot catch the ball if QB is on his back.

I really like Ehlinger but do you really think he’s better than Justin Fields and Trevor Lawrence?

Yes, I do. Lawrence is still making freshman mistakes from time to time. His play looks better than it actually is because of his surrounding talent. No mistake, he's a fine QB. Ehlinger was good when Texas wasn't. Lawrence will never be able to say that.

Justin Fields, same story. His play is enhanced by his team. IMO, Fields is better than Lawrence and certainly better than the QB he played under at Georgia. But Ehlinger runs just as well and throws twice as well as Fields.

Tom Herman needs to be careful. He's making some assumptions in this article. It seems he's close to stereotyping his fan base. Intimating that Texas Longhorn fathers need to allow their daughters to marry football players just because they are good on the field is ridiculous.

I would imagine that some will be offended and others will be happy with his stance and statements. Just the same as watching some criticize what Saban said as not going far enough while others exalted him as the standard bearer. It is certainly a time  where words need to be chosen wisely and actions will likely tell the true story. JMHO

You must have a large supply of orange kool-aid and drinking that stuff down. The NFL is drooling for Lawrence. They are not drooling for Sam. 

Sam does not throw twice as wells as Fields. There is not a college coach that would take Sam over Lawrence or Fields.
