Please tell me there's nothing to this rumor of Jake Smith entering the transfer portal. SHA? Big Mike? Surely it's BS.

Eric Nahlin posted during the KU game thread that Smith was frustrated earlier last week at not getting more touches, which is likely why they were forcing/feeding him the ball such as the failed 4th down direct snap attempt to him.  I don't think Smith is looking to enter the portal, but it was more of an overall frustration with how kids view playing time and the things staffs due to placate them, that sometimes don't help the overall game effort.

Smith sees the volume Duve is getting and knows that's his spot next season and Smith is still one of the team leaders in TD catches this season as a true freshman.

With that said, I have no idea why we don't have the means to get Duve and Smith on the field at the same time.  there's no restriction against having a slot on each side of the field if we go 4 or 5 wide, except maybe in Herman/Beck's playbook.

Thanks @Texas2725. Wasn't keeping up with the thread due to my frustrations in the stands.

As for Shepherd, not surprising at all. Maybe he can go back to aggieland and have fun playing .500 ball in the $EC.

Also, as for Shepherd, good riddance.
Same.  I was at the game too and the first thought I had about any possible frustration Smith may be having was to remind him to stop fumbling per his dropped punt vs OSU and key fumble vs KU when he had converted a first down.

Well, to be fair to Jake, on the fumble in the Kansas game he really didn't do anything wrong. He was absolutely carrying the ball exactly as he should and the Kansas player just made a perfect hit with this helmet right on the ball. If the Kansas player just makes a routine tackle, there is no fumble. Noticed that on the replay I was watching this morning. Sometimes it's just the play of the other player that causes a bad play by someone on our team.

That 4th down carry by Smith  was a stroke of genious by the coaching staff.

Shane Buechele is having the kind of season so many envisioned after the quarterback started all 12 games as a true freshman in the Big 12 Conference three years ago.

While still in Texas, Buechele is closer to home with undefeated No. 19 SMU, where he is among 15 players who were once at other Power Five schools. The quarterback is one of 10 of those transfers from the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Shane would riddle our current pass D.

I might have missed it, but I have seen nothing about Smith entering the portal on any other Texas board. Where did you hear this rumor?
This is now a thread on OB about this and here is apparently how this "rumor" came about. It was mentioned on IT Jake was frustrated with his amount of targets and that was all that was said. Then posters on that site begin to speculate and basically turned it into a rumor as idiotic posters are prone to doing.

Yeah, I was hearing it from a buddy that was on that board. LOL, that's why I was wanting someone to confirm it was BS.

I guess the annual day after Thanksgiving game is officially dead. At KU last year and at Okie Lite next year.

Per brainiacs, we have a locker room issue. Some tension between certain players and certain coaches. One offensive starter skipped practice yesterday and likely will not start this weekend.
